42cyl, 143L supercharged radial. Good for around 8000hp they reckon, and godknows how much torque.

Man, these things put out more smoke than a poorly maintained steam train. like I said in post #1 a JA which were oil burners LOL... its interesting watching the colour as the revs rise, as the turbo comes on song they go very rich, the MPG must be well out the door, wonder if its just diesel or they use additives.

Getting away from the diesel utes a wee bit, this one powered by Curtis Wright radial aircraft engine

listening to them off boost, hunting and missing , have to be quite low, then when the huge turbo winds up she's all go.
awesome!!

may run bit of jet/kero in the mix if theyre running lower compression and huge boost.
So is this the new winter project....... saw a cheap nuffield tractor the other day

Doubt if it would be a single huge turbo, more likely staged multiple (ie first turbo compressor outlet feeding second turbo compressor inlet, etc), to get the pressure and volume up

Maybe, but listening to a couple with dangerous today, you could hear what sounded like only one big turbo , they took what seemed like ages to spirl up and get on boost.
don't some of the new cat's run a twin turbo set up on their latest big blocks? as std

Or LPG, there's been kits for road going diesels available for a decade or two which apparently give a bit of a boost

At 1st I thought they were truck engines, but I doubt you would get one under the hood of even a Ram... so Im asuming these Cummings engines are built for the Dodge's and Chev's... only well worked.

ahhhh, find a standard tractor that can pull what these guys do... look at the load, the driver in the dead weight operates the drag...

Have done so for decades now.
Its pretty rare to see a big diesel (say over 500hp) these days without one or 2 turbs.
I remember as a kid getting taken for a bit of a spin on a big grader. Guy put his foot down and all you could hear was turbo whine....even over the gravel hitting the blade or the wheels spinning. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. And those things are only around 2-300hp.
