My apologies if this has been mentioned before but I cant be bothered looking. Those of you who think you can have your bike on hold for 3 mths then say register it for a weekend then put it back on hold- think again. You can do that but be aware the 3 month minimum hold period applies again from your new hold start date.

Yup the three months minimum starts each time, unless you are just extending an existing exemption. They have their cake, and they eat it too.

I love cake. One of my workmates birthdays this week and we had the best carrot cake ever.

Hmmm good point. Can you use unused carrot cake to register a bike? Then again, what was the carrot cake doing be unused in the first place.

About to put my Ducati on hold, first time i've ever done it. Means i'll be able to buy lots of carrot cake with the money i'm saving.
Heard they're going to put a multi bike owner rego in place.............. YEAH RIGHT!
Both the rego form & web site mention a 3 month min for hold and rego term.
I recently took my bike off hold (it was on hold for over a year when I bought it) and was told the min I can register it for after being on hold is 3 months. So I had to reg it for 3 months. $117 if my memory serves me correctly.

Mmm, once upon a time, you could put your rego on hold before it expired too.
Good times.

Not true. Most counter staff at the post office don't know this though. Can't remember what the form is you need but theres' a couple of posts on the site about it.
If you want to get around the 3 months minimum on hold thing then just re-register the bike in a different name.

The form is MR27 plus an xtra $7 admin fee.

Well that sucks balls!! Stupid bitch. I only wanted to reg it for 1 month. Currently it is reg'd till 17th July and ideally I want it reg'd for 9 months a year. Maybe if I put reg on hold on Monday I sacrifice 1 month of reg (not really an issue cause I won't be riding it) and then I can get it in sync for registering from sept-may and then on hold for june-aug. That way 9 months reg and 3 months on hold.

I understand you can use the MR27 form to do any period up to 15 months I think it was. So you could get your 9 mth cycle doing that.
