If you don't know the story ($1300 ticket thread here) (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=11024&highlight=%241300+ticket) but in my hot little hands I have a cheque for $110 from THE NEW ZEALAND POLICE

What a weird feeling.

Anyone know why they have given me money back? I have added up the offences on the ticket.. it was $1300 which I payed the correct amount etc - John suggested it was an 'early payment' bonus.

And uhhh... as if I'm going to enquire about this either

Must be because the dollar is doing well against the US again.

Just take the money and run, don't ask questions or you might not like the answers you get.

A friend of mine was caught at 118kays on expressway at Tauranga (80 zone) and it cost him about $400 from memory. He paid up and that was that. 2 months later he got a letter saying that although the area was posted 80kays it was supposed to be posted 100 and they sent him a cheque for the $300 difference and took some of the demerits of his record.

I will be ringing them (took 21 mins last time though  ) but only to check DM's - don't want to arouse any suspicion eh :devil2:

I have pm'd spud and It MIGHT be that they have made 40kmh over the limit $400 instead of $510.... (explains the $110 difference).

I have had a little wee chat with spudchucka and this is how it goes:

Up to 10kph = $30
10 - 15kph = $80
15 - 20kph = $120
20 - 25kph = $170
25 - 30kph = $230
30 - 35kph = $300
35 - 40kph = $400
40 - 45kph = $510
45 - 50kph = $630

The ticket said $510.. the cop was a real noob (eg didn't know about what offences to give me) and probably got it wrong.

It can only be that he thaught 40kmh was $510 instead of $400... that is the only explaination.

All solved now hopefully!

Never drove a cage before I got the bike so I never knew the hidey holes.... of all places it was College hill rd which NOW everyone tells me is a hidey hole for every coppa in the area to (ab)use.

Learn't ma lesson though... :oi-grr:
