Nailed at 112?, You'v got to be kidding? And I saw him, and I checked my speed, bout 110-120, no biggy, 2mins later got the lights in the mirror so I pull over to let him past and he follows me, "Ohyourvgottobefuckingkiddingme"
But this is how I'm gunna view it.
He's been told "This is your quota, fill it or else!"
He looked bloody tired, and thay do long/double shifts.
He let me off the bigger one (120) and a few other little things (lots now I think about it)
He was a nice guy and he was as pleasant as possible about it.
Oh, and I WAS speeding and to get caught there I was asking for it.
So if you have lights in your mirrors at Waihi, dont give him any shit cause he's not a bad bloke.
I wont print his name here, nor will I tell you what else he let me ride away with as I dont want him in trouble with his boss, but put it this way, I've had a couple of nasty run-ins with the cops and I've met some real bastards.
But this one restored some of my shaken faith in them.
He's OK, I'd buy him a beer.

Oohh bad luck mate-----

Was on the KB ride today but returned alone - on the way back on the Miranda Straights - passed a HP car hidden behind a bunch of traffic - driving opposite to me.....

Looked down to see - yikes $1.35.....

Slowed down to the usual $1.10 -- desperately checking mirror every 1.5 seconds....... ahh ...... thank GOD!!!! He let me go...... must have thought that I'd be long gone by the time he turned around......

But bad luck mate - atleast he was a nice bloke.

Hmmmm... this seems to be happening a little too much lately for me to let pass.

Might be that the 'powers that be' eg Helen and co have told the cops to go easy so there is no bitching during the election about it :nono: as this would be just another thing to nail Labour on.

Just my conspiracy minded thaughts anyway :devil2:

P.s nice to see ya on here myvice :Punk:

Edit: JSG... wouldnt suprise me if he couldn't lock on to you and was a little iffy about wether you were speeding or not (line of sight)..

Interesting...
I also came back along the Miranda Straights this afternoon, and didn't notice the cop car coming the other way until it was too late to do anything meaningful about my speed...
Fortunately it was just before the Miranda/Kaiawa junction, and in the time it would have taken him to do a U-turn and catch-up I was out of sight and he would have had to guess which road I had taken. Whether this deterred him or not I don't know - but for a while there I was a rather worried chappie...

I don't recall ever having seen a HP car on that road before...

Let me get this straight, after you saw the cop behind you and checked your speed, you slowed down to 100km/h and 2 minutes later, the cop pulled you over?
Just want to clarify, because from what you've said it's hard to tell if you slowed down after checking your speed or if you continued on at 110 to 120km/h.

S.O.P. Looked down, thought a string of bad words, slowed to 100.
And he was going the other way when I saw him.

Nice guy or not, it was still a piss-ant 12k's over. 5 years ago you wouldn't have been stopped.
But the different tone in Police responses makes me think somthing is up. In the Herald there was a story on seat belt wearing and whether demerits would improve usage. Whether anything would get usage over the current 95% is debatable. But I digress, the Police response was, "We'll look at the issue and if demerits would help, we'll consider it".
2 years ago it would have been, "we're going to add demerits to seat belt offences".

Doesn't mean that anyone, at any level, will ever admit that past policies and procedures were wrong.

Wait for the spin...

The Soviet era aparatchniks had nothing on the LTNZ and Police PR sections.
Although they could make Rob Robinson, Steve Fitzgerald and John Kelly disappear from history ala Stalin.

neither have I, but reliable cop paranoid bikers (that shall remain nameless) have told me that they've spotted HP cars parked in driveways on Miranda Straights so be well warned!

You are right about this....the cameras around AK have vanished, some still in the expected places, but we haven't spotted any cash registers hiding in amongst parked cars on Don Buck Road in Henderson like we did 6 months ago......The Sisterhood want to be re-elected - don't piss the peasants off for the next few months - Bloody socialist gits
