So the little GPX 250 has been running like crap lately and the battery just died which didn't impress the girlfriend too much leaving her stranded and locked outside at her parents :nya:
So decided i should probably service the little ninja. No way i was going to pay someone to do it especially with full step by step instructions located here faq.ninja250.org
Only problem is i have never done anything like this before and i have fucked up an oil change on both my bikes! :facepalm: So yeah not exactly mechanically minded.
So my list of things to do is as follows:
Valve clearance check
Carb clean
Carb balance
Got brand new oil filter, air filter and spark plugs to keep it happy.
So started this morning removing fairings and gas tank. Unfortunately the girlfriend filled up before i got a chance to tell her not too so removing the tank was fun with gas slopping back and forward.
Then the hard part. Removing the carbs. Stripped the heads on what must have been original 20 year old screws holding the intake rubber clamps on but i got there in the end. New screws on the shopping list.
Stripped the head on a screw holding the bracket for the throttle cables and that one isn't moving. These heads are like butter.
Managed to get the carbs out and drain them. Now i have to figure out how to disassemble and clean them. Although this can wait as i will now attempt the valve clearances and i hope like hell i don't drop anything into the engine!
