View Full Version : Looking for sponsorship for Sam Croft

Matchless-G80

After winning the 2010 VMCC Actrix Winter series then the 2010 PMCC Summer series and setting the Manfield long track record in his class, 17 year old Sam Croft is looking for sponsorship to contest the 2012 MNZ Pro-lite Nationals.

Currently he has won all 7 Pro Lite races in this years VMCC Actrix Winter series, with an average winning margin of over 20 seconds on all the races. During the last race of VMCC Round 2 at Manfeild Long Track (wet) he had a 39 second lead over the next bike in any of the Mini lite, Streetstock or Pro lite classes that race together. In another race he had 20 seconds added for a jump start but still won that race by 27 seconds indicating how good he really is and what potential could be realised with the right support.

Sam is on track to win the VMCC Actrix Winter series and PMCC summer series but to move forward on the national stage and hopefully further afield a partnership is needed with someone or group looking to sponsor this excellent rider. We would love to hear from anyone considering such an arrangement, or if you can recommend someone to contact.

We realise that right now businesses do not have resources like a few years ago but believe we can raise your business profile by being associated with Sam if that is your objective. Sam will take direction, is a good ambassador, does well at school looking to study engineering at university and is drug free.

He is currently supported by local businesses including Motorad, Horsepower Motorcycles, 1tonne.co.nz, Kapiti Bearings and Locksmithing, Neptune Mufflers, RPS Signs and Plasic Welding Repaires. This support is in the form of discounted prices or services.

The Croft family has and will continue to support Sam financially and in other ways but we have limited resources. To get Sam to the next level, please give us a call and discuss any of the above, or ideas you may have.

Kind regards David Croft.

I am not in a position to help, nor have I found anyone able to help (or theyd be sponsoring ME!!).....but, wondering if oyu have thought about setting up a website for Sam?
some younger racers are using them, and Blogs, keeping everyone updated...just adds that extra 5% and personal touch. Photos are great too.

Good luck, Crofts.!

What are you looking for?

We are looking for financial backing for Sam to compete in the Nationals. We are able to put him through the winter series and summer series, but will require a sponsor for Sam to make it to the National stage.

How much do you need?

I have a few great motorcycle films, projector, sound etc and pretty sure we could get a venue sorted?

Might raise a few hundy if we did it right?

I could talk to the lads and perhaps provide a small indoor venue through winter, or (if your projector can expand to a large outdoor screen) A venue with far greater potential as the weather gets better !

It seems there is a lot of support around for people in your class and position.

If you have a good think about what exactly you need like tyres, entry fees etc etc write up a budget that people can help with.

I very much doubt someone will just say ok here is 10k but if you say we need 5 sets of tyres, then someone may be able to buy a set of tyres etc.

Teams like Nick Cole and Red Devil racing can do deals to add you into the team for a small fee, that way the bike gets to all the rounds and you have support etc then you just have to raise that money put it in your budget, also Billy??

Good Luck :)

We sell projectors and commecial screens mate - what evers in the demo rooms on the day ;-) Outdoors a better sound system would be needed.

Motorcycle gang is a friggin HOOT as lots of 1950 brit bikes having the bejesus thrashed out of them off road 'back in the day'... Its a corny as love story so wags like it too...

I've just purchased a copy of On Any Sunday and a short docco on flat track but its not arrived yet.

Happy to arrange something up your way and in the city if it helps Sam out David? (The Crofts live a few houses up the road from us) but I think they need a bit more dosh?

This might work for you. Lee Munro has had some responses to his sponsorship appeal on Trademe.
Best of luck. The young fella was on fire on the weekend.

Good luck with funds for Sam... he has potential.
I have been on the sponsorship trail for over 2 yrs now for Ants. It is a long road, but it is out there........... dont leave any avenue un-tried, it sometimes comes from very unlikely places. Also keep your sponsers well informed and even signed pics (for the office wall) or articles in their local rag etc are usually well appreciated.
But most of all dont give up at the first hurdle...i have potential sponsors who i have been chasing for two yrs...they will come to the party... some just need time. Again keep letting even those who have said no informed via an e-mail or mail update every couple of months.
I now have another rider this year so twice the work.......... but it will happen.
Good luck guys:2thumbsup

What lap times can Sam do at Manfield short track in good weather on the 150 or 250?
I looked on My Laps at the national round and did not see his name.

SWERVE

Dont think he did the National rounds Kev........... however he has run exactly a second slower than Seths 250 prolite record time at RD 1 of VMCC winter series this year. Which i thought was pretty good.
Its a shame that latest edition of Bike Rider mag got the times/riders incorrect and did not credit him correctly.

Yip,Sams definitely got talent,But at the risk of sounding negative,You'd be foolish to put him in the same bracket as Seth at this stage,To put it in perspective,Seth has only ridden at Manfeild twice as opposed to Sam spending half his life there HAHA,Seth was also running on tyres that were on their 15th day at the track and it was the last round of a championship he'd already won the week before,Seth was also nearly a half a second a lap faster at his first visit to Manfeild,But because the class wasnt recognised his time didnt stand(1.27.2).

Good luck in finding a sponsor Sam,Im only to happy to help if I can,But not financially

If this was a genuine request for sponsorship you will need to be a little more proactive with questions asked etc.

Quite correct Billy.
Winning everything at club level and repeating it at nats is not as easy as its sounds eh.
(my lad will agree with that:()
And to go head to head with Seth in a championship race is another ball game altogether.... you especially will know his commitment into corners.....!
You never know how much more he has in reserve...untill he pulls it out either.
However Sam is one of the better up & coming prolite hopefuls i believe.

To be fair, apart from naming Seth instead of Adrian Billington,in the reference to the Minilites record, I'm not sure what else was incorrect. It did name Sam correctly as winning the Prolite races, didn't it?

Hi Paul, this sounds really awesome. It means alot that Sams name is now being recognised. This could be a good way of raising some money for Sam and having some fun at the same time. This is definatly worth a go thanks.

Thanks Billy, at this stage Sam is still getting used to the bike and would love the opportunity to race against Seth. We are not expecting him to win the nationals, but we do believe that he could give some good results. I think he will go faster every meeting and come nationals time, it should be a great class to watch.

Hey Choppa, thanks for the interest in Sam. At this stage we are sorting through a budget for the Nationals to see how much it will cost and how much we need etc. It is a while away at this stage, but i think your idea of going to some one or a business with an exact figure is a better approach than just saying i need money.

Yes although the names were wrong for Seth/Adrian , they did say that the prolite class was "won by the talented Sam Croft"

Indeed... It was meant to and it received the desired results... To be honest im interested in how this all turns out. My sponsor has expressed interest in helping out a young rider in that class plus I have been into motorad getting some more info

Exact figure may not be the answer, better a range of figures. Once you've done your budget with broken down costs usually a sponsor would have a looksee and pick out the portion/portions, they'd like to help with.
