Probly not this one anyhow, unless they have got a lot a of testing done with it on the sly... guess there will be more speculation on that after the practice sessions get underway.
But an interesting developement none-the-less
Hoping for some good weather and close racing this weekend.

Think the chassis is more of a problem than the tranny, as the Ducati hasn't really looked slower than the Honda in a straight line.

Interesting to see a woman rider on the grid. She is the first woman since Katja Poensgen (spelling?) in 2004 or so.
However, as was suggested on another forum, teams racing in the MotoGP classes really should be targeting the best riders from wherever, not space fillers and marketing exercises.
There are dozens of riders with better credentials (e.g. Damien Cudlin) but maybe without the connections or the budget.
I would hazard a guess that right now even Ska Chill would do a better job than this chick will be able to do. I'll let her do naughty things to me if she qualifies.
Discuss.

They have just lost a world class rider and no doubt have some serious sponsorship commitments to up hold. I dont no anything about here do you? I assume the team putting her on there bikes does. Good on them I say if nothing else it will give the team/sponsors some good coverage.
I was lucky enough to watch Katja Poinsken? race European Superstock on the Corona Suzuki 750 at Donnington Round in 2000 and she was very very good would have run at the front of any domestic championship no problems at all but when she went 250gp she did not go so good but different playing feild.

I see the big discussion is about the lady in Moto 2. Titillating. I found the new Ducati GP11.1 more interesting, but then I'm old.
New frame, gearbox, swingarm and suspension is a major gamble, they'll basically have no setup data until Rossi gets in to the pits during FP1.
Here's hoping it all hangs together and Rossi can at least make a race of it.

It is not that much of a gamble when he cant ride what they have got at the mo and he seems to like the new 1000cc bike so why not? And if they go no good then at least they have a decent reason for the press HAHA.

Due to the 'upside-down' swingarm perhaps?
Edit: David Emmett (http://motomatters.com/analysis/2011/06/22/2011_motogp_assen_wednesday_round_up_the.html) has had a peek at it and reckons,
“The rear swingarm appears to be attached to a carbon fiber subframe rather than the crankcases, and the shock is mounted at the top on the same subframe, rather than the bottom of the engine casing via a linkage as it was on the GP11.0. The fairing is now the double-gill side vent version rather than the large single vent, and the swingarm bracing is underneath rather than above. The lower front exhaust is now large, vaguely trumpet shaped, and emerging from the side, altered from the elegantly tucked away side exit as it was previously.”

Absolutely correct on both counts, hence my comment. Sponsors will not thank the team if she does not qualify.
I dont no anything about here do you?
Yep, had a look. She rides for Kawasaki in the Spanish Formula Extreme type series. That is not the CEV Buckler national series, but one down from it. Currently in top 10 but only just.
I assume the team putting her on there bikes does. Good on them I say if nothing else it will give the team/sponsors some good coverage.
The coverage up to the race will be plenty. During the race, maybe not so much.

Right again (shit, how come you are right??). Katja was an excellent rider, but we both know how hard it is to come into a world championship race and do well, let alone on an old bike with no budget as Katja had. Her team had to withdraw from races due to lack of budget.
Elena will not have that problem, but all in all good luck to her. Any chance to do this would be welcomed by any rider I would suggest.

It could be the wet making (part of) the difference too. He's not shabby in the wet and was fairly close to the pace at Jerez, until the Stoner incident anyway. Be hard to say how much difference the mods to the bike have made until we see a dry race. Should be a hell of an interesting round!

he is only pushing the limits because he doesnt seem to know where they are yet...and he should seeing his contemporaries have learned, either that or he doesnt care which is dangerous for him and those around him.
He is obviously fast becuase left to his own devices he doesnt actually crsh much but once he is surrounded by other rider he cant seem to control his urge to be in front of them immediately
Not only that but Vinales is looking like something special. Best race, best racer. I also admired the way he openly ogled Paris Hilton's tits at the team launch.
she's got tits?

You're repeating my point why? He cares about not crashing. He just cares about winning more. As it should be.

The 125 race was the best racing I've seen in ages. RIP 125GP. All hail the Briggs & Stratton Lawnmower challenge that will replace it. Moto2 was an incomprehensible jumble of visibly slow Formula Honda racers as usual.
MotoGP was weird. Looks like late '80s/early '90s 500GP. Small fields, only a couple of people who can win consistently and dwindling fields and spectators. Stop criticising Simoncelli. He's the only rider out there pushing limits. Reminds of some dude called Doohan in '90.
Showing your ignorance as usual I see. Lets bring back the old 2 strokes on gravel tracks, wire wheels and open face helmets. What a spectator marvel that would be! Remember how fast those guys were? wow! Imagine the spectators?!
Hey with your visionary responses you should think about organising events??
Maybe you could start things moving into the past and hopefully run everyone broke with the huge prices of not having restricted classes. Maybe everyone could pool there resources and we could have 3 people in each race?

Obviously winning is not high on his list. He hasnt even got a podium. No points for qualifying.
Simo's going to cop it - but if the 'experts' stop and think they may remember, it is an exact carbon copy of the 'racing incident' in Jerez when Rossi passed Stoner cleanly, but toooo hot and then binned it, taking out the rider he had just passed.
It was quite different to the Rossi crash. He outbraked Stoner and lost the front carrying too much corner speed through the corner. Simo highsided cause he was too keen with the throttle and the traction control couldn't help him. He did exactly the same thing at estoril, first left hand corner highside. He nearly collected Stoner that day, Lorenzo was the unlucky one last night! I reckon Simo will win this weekend in Italy.

He obviously has the pace. I would put money on him to win at Mugello

Simo, Simo, Simo.....thanks for rooting a perfectly good championship.
"He'll definitely win the next round".......the whole premise that built the TAB into what it is today!!
Congrats to Speez, nice to see a humble guy without a a Rossi wannabe attitude doin' good. Now that he's ticked that box I reckon he'll be at the front or very close to it a lot more often.

Agree re Spies mate, the same thing happened with him when raced against Matt Malladin ( Better than any WSB Rider) in the USA a few years back, once he got started, he could not be stopped, I just hope Yamaha can build him a good 1000cc for next year so no machine let downs for next years championship, be bloody great to see a Yank back up there all the time

Simo;s win is coming and I luv his attach attitude What - to attach himself to someone at the beginning of each race.....?
No doubt, the boy's fast - just has to learn when to be fast and when to hold it for a few seconds.
'Twould be good to see a full field of fit riders on a dry track, going for it........

And at least he's racing, not like the pillock who pissed oil all over the track during practice and took a number of bikes out.
Good to see Spies get a win though.

Hey - I'm a Simo fan - it's great that he sticks it to the others - reminds me of how I used to ride when I was his age - I just wish he would stay on for more than the first corner!
