I have just changed from a 00 fireblade to black ktm superduke. I didnt get a test ride so was hopeing it was a good call. I havnt found wind a prob on upper body, and can still go at decent pace. Missing that inline power, but are making most of v-twin. An awesome bike in the twisties and been riding with 04 r1 and k3 and dont have a problem mixing it up with them. awesome brakes, quality gear, get out there and have a go on one if you have the chance. bring on the next south island have ago day

Yea i went sports bike to fully naked, not quite as safe as your option thou.
I saw a duke up close the other day, orangey one, nice bike i must say, needs to be louder but all stock pipes are shit anyhow, (part from the K5 1000).
Be a close call between the new speed triple and the duke, dont know which way i'd go..........
Enjoy the new bike.

Naked or semi-naked is the way of the future in this speed limited world. They've outsold sportbikes in Europe for years.
It's great being comfortable between sets of twisty's, or am I showing my age again?
I'm not sure parts are any more difficult to get than Jappers. How many times have you been told that a widget for your Kwakondamahazuki is ex- Japan?
Not doubting your choice in the slightest mate as the KTM has had a brilliant write up - just a general point/question though - why do so many bikers buy a bike without test riding it first? Seems a bit arse backwards to me, spending all that money without even knowing whether the machine is the right thing for you. I've done it myself, I bought a bike based on reviews and appearance, I rode it around for a few days before realising that I hated it. A bit bloody late then. I lost thousands when I changed it again a month later.

Ummm yeh....I bought both the Gixx and the 12 without even sitting on 'em right choice on one but the other......
WTF has happened to Katoom's parts supply?A few years ago (or is it decades?) when I had mine I needed a gearbox part,Ex factory (Austria) on my doorstep in 1 week (7days) from ordering it!

I was looking at my options R1, K5,BLADE, RSVFACTORY ,TUONO,KTM and could only get a go on aprillias at the time. i think it sux that there arent more demo bikes out there for serious buyers maybe its a south island problem, but it makes it hard, a k5 is available now but is to late they had one then but i dont think they thought i was serious (their loss) im lucky enough to be happy with my choice but not an ideal way to purchase.I went to have a go day and relised i would only use potential of blade on track and those days are few and far between, so that swayed my attention to naked bikes.

Good on ya...I may be joining your ranks soon...Going to go for a test ride this week on a demo...Once I ride it I suspect the deal will be done!
There's a demo bike in Tauranga and also in Palmy.

I wish i had money.... really like the look of the Dukes... Not the biggest fan of riding naked (especially on the ride yesterday  ) anything over 180 for a period of time gets very tiring...
I bought my bike without test riding it.. Mainly because i dont have a full licence... But i had ridden the K2 version and loved it, and ridden an R6 and loved it, so knew that buying a brand spanking K5 was the ticket...
