Who has used/owned the zumo 220 or 660.
what are the differences?
I dont want to be able to talk to a pillion or take phone calls.
Apart from that...opinions?

Haven't used either.

Here's a good way to compare all 3: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/compare.do?cID=135&compareProduct=65210&compareProduct=15000&compareProduct=414

If you don't need audio/bluetooth at all (including mp3 player) then the 220 will probably suffice. PM slowfox for what he thinks, as he has one.

If you start looking at the 660, I would probably advise you to get a 550. You'll save money, the 660 has had a few reports of issues, and I've done about 3 years and 60,000+ km on a 550. They are seriously tough little bastards.

And if you can get a Nuvi 500, it's the same as the Zumo 220 but usually cheaper.

I use the Nuvi500 and can confirm they are fine on the bike easy to read in all light and can be operated with gloves on

Forestry roads are fun if you apply an "every left turn" policy.

I have thought about that being a idea for a the road also..something different.

lol, thanks guys. I explored AK using the Every 2nd Left turn method. Got to see all sorts of places

As far as updates go, what cost to update the Nuvi500? there is a site where one can update garmin maps from other users info and its free.

I used the "Oh crap I'm in the wrong lane" method to explore Auckland, unlike most NZ drivers I obeyed the rule to follow the lane rather than force a change. Imagine all the fun you will miss using a Satnav :)

lol, yup Ive got to know lots of bits of Welly doing that too. Mostly when I get lost here I aim for the ocean and figure it out as I go, But sometimes I do need to know where I am and how to get to where I want to go with minimal disruption. Think of it as an alternative to wandering the lookalike wellington suburbs.

Unzip the latest map here into the "garmin" folder on the GPS.
