Roger Waters is bringing his extraordinary show The Wall - LIVE! to New Zealand's Vector Arena (shame about the venue, but Roger's sound engineers will work their magic!) next year, 2012!!
Listen to Radio Hauraki tomorrow morning for details!!
Concert trailer/interview here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEqdeo0gI78&feature=related
Here is some footage I filmed on my Samsung Galaxy S 2, the video is quite good quality, considering the challenging conditions & low light during the concert. It certainly gives you a taste of the amazing visuals at this concert & although not reflected in this video, the sound is equally impressive!
Please remember to turn the volume right down to around 30-40% before playing & watch at 720p on You Tube & HD on Vimeo:

I had the amazing pleasure & luck to meet Roger Waters & his lead guitarist David Kilminster in person on May 21 this year, after attending his Manchester Show on May 20, as part of our European Tour. It was an absolutely mind boggling concert, that EVERY Pink Floyd fan should NOT! miss!!

No worries dude.
I have just heard that Radio Hauraki will not be announcing the concert this week - it will in fact be next week, at an as yet, unconfirmed date.
However, I can say that it's going to be in January 2012 at Vector Arena, Auckland & that he may be performing 3 concerts all up.

Gilmore wouldnt...
If he did, Id pay anything to attend...and hope they played anything except the wall stuff. Kinda over that album...finally. They have 10 other fucken AMAZING albums, Ive never really understood why the Wall is still their #1. Assume DSOTM is their #2 then?
But even with just Waters going....and playing only the wall stuff....yea am looking forward to it :P
Can't say I was ever a big fan of the Wall myself. Certainly not my #1 Floyd choice.
Went to see Pink Floyd in Auckland back in..87? 88? That was a great show and it didn't seem to suffer from Roger Waters absense.

Yes - David Gilmour sung & played Comfortably Numb at London's 02 arena on May 15 I think it was, as a return favour for Roger Waters singing/playing at a Charity gig in London.
By chance - Nick Mason also turned up for "Outside The wall" on the same evening!

Well I for one WONT be going
I'm a Floyd fan from way back
But Mr Waters' middle-class angst gets right on my wick
Especially since he's done nothing of note except live of it for the last 25 plus years
The Wall was the start of the decline - then the Final Cut and oh how I wish it had been.
Its old, its trite, and it was crap first time around.
Boring boring boring - Play something, say something, new (please)

Don't worry i have been practising on aiming and i can get anyone within a 50m radius..:tugger:
And i personally prefer David's music over Rogers, and Dark side and Animals are more of my favorites, But comfortably numb definitely takes the cake! Dogs in a close second, just too many to name, though they did put out some damn weird stuff back in the day...don't know whether im listening to animals on a mixture of potent drugs or i'm on the drugs myself?
Will Snowy White and Doyle be playing? Their dual solo in Roger water's "in the flesh" dvd sends a shiver down my spine.....:tugger::drool:

But noting - both were Pink Floyd albums without Roger Waters.....ie DG is still the main man from PF as far as im concerned.
Edit, yeah, the full PF group, pre the Wall...was the best tho. Wish you were here and Animals.....ohh yeah.

Jesus guys - what's with all the bullshit comments about Roger Waters?? :tugger:
David Gilmour is a brilliant guitarist - no doubt & also a great singer/lyricist.
However - love Roger Waters or hate him - if it wasn't for Roger Waters & Syd Barrett - Pink Floyd would of never happened! They founded the band in 1964/65 along with Nick Mason & Richard Wright.
Roger is a creative genious & after Syd left the band (or more accurately was pushed out, due to his LSD addiction & as a consequence of his abuse - Mental illness) David Gilmour stepped up to plate, to take Syd's role, in late 1967, early 1968.
The fact remains - without any of these bands members - we wouldn't have the amazing legacy of music that Pink Floyd created today - would we?
Now - I've seen this concert live - the production cost $UK 37 Million Pounds & it's simply astonishing! You will not see another concert like this, on this scale again.
Regardless of your opinions on Roger Waters or David Gilmour - if your a true Pink Floyd Fan - put them aside & don't miss this concert - I can assure you - you will never regret going to this show/concert.
If you choose not to go "because of your hangup over Roger Waters" you will be pissed off, when you find out just how amazing the concerts were, from your friends who did go to it.
/end rant

Here are the details, as per Radio Hauraki's website:
http://www.hauraki.co.nz/gigs-and-events/rodger-waters-the-wall-nz-tour
Roger Waters will perform his masterpiece The Wall in New Zealand in 2012, continuing the sell-out success of his extensive 2010/2011 tour of North America and Europe.
The Wall, written and produced by Roger Waters, was first performed live by Pink Floyd in 1980.
Originally released in November 1979, The Wall was America's top-selling album of 1980 and is still in the US Top 5 best-selling albums of all time.
"The Wall", a defining work in rock music's history, was performed live only 29 times during 198019/81.
In 2010 it was brought meticulously to life by Roger Waters and his stunning band, performing the album in its entirety - including the anthemic Another Brick In The Wall, rock classic Comfortably Numb, Mother, Hey You and In the Flesh.
Click https://www.facebook.com/rogerwaters?sk=app_2392950137 to see over 20 behind the scenes footage of Roger Waters "The Wall" Tour.
The Wall Live features all the classic Roger Waters special effects, including the original Gerald Scarfe imagery, the crashing aeroplane, quadraphonic sound, pyrotechnics, gigantic inflatable puppets, flying pig, and adds the latest projection technology, video mapping and many elaborate effects.
Waters commands the stage and the visuals are a show by themselves, projected onto the infamous wall that is being built brick by brick during the show. In all 424 bricks are used to construct an imposing wall 230 feet long and 35 feet high, dominating the arena.
Roger Waters' 2010 North American tour of The Wall Live was the highest grossing indoor arena tour in the USA last year, playing to over 650,000 people, and the current European tour has been equally successful.
At the prestigious 2011 Pollstar Music Industry Awards in Los Angeles, The Wall show won two major awards; the coveted 'Major Tour of the Year 2010' and 'Most Creative Stage Production'.
With state of the art surround sound coming at the audience from all corners of the venue, the hi-tech computer visuals are simply mind-blowing.
Reviewers have been lavish with their praise;
The New York Post: "it is the best arena concert I've ever been to. Period."
Boston Globe: The visually arresting, musically majestic, and emotionally tumultuous performance that resulted was breathtaking"'
Philadelphia Enquirer - "Everyone should see it once before they die".

David Kilminster does a superb job on Comfortably Numb & many other songs, that feature throughout the The Wall - Live.
Also - I managed to score myself some tickets during the Radio Hauraki Pre Sale yesterday - this time positioned on the floor, in Row 38 - so the view & the Quadrophonic Surround Sound will be top notch (well - as good as it can be at Vector Arena).

I am eyeing up the tickets but looking for a good seat, may just buy them and get it over and done with..
The trick is - if you can get in lowerbowl & not too much to side, you should be ok, for views & sound. The best place is on the floor, but not too close - as you won't beable to take it in as well, due to the size of wall. The Gold tickets, on the floor - are the best tickets in the house.
BUT - at Vector, the higher up you go, like in the Upper bowl, at the back - the worse the acoustics & the views.
Whislt the scale of this concert is HUGE! - The Wall is 70metres long, by 10 metres high, it's best to be back a fair way - but due to Vector's poor acoustics, just not to far back. Any other decent venue in the world would be fine, no matter where you are seated - but Vector does not apply, in terms of being "decent for sound, eveywhere in the venue".

Yes - the Darkside of the Moon concert was fantastic! So many Floyd Classics played at that concert - my only disappointment was that they cut the lead break to "Shine on you Crazy Diamond" short, which apparently was Roger Water's choice - but I don't know why.
