View Full Version : Jetstar are pathetic

I'm in Wellington on business and booked to fly back to Auckland tomorrow afternoon with Jetstar - the airline that doesn't like flying.
There's no indication as to whether or not they will cancel all domestic flights tomorrow after doing so with all flights today. Similarly there is no indication as to when they will make a decision regarding tomorrow's flights.
Basically, they want you to turn up to the airport tomorrow with your fingers, toes and whatever else you can cross crossed. There is every likelyhood that Air New Zealand will run out of seats for the route I need to fly tomorrow by the time Jetstar grow some balls & make a decision.
I booked a flight with Air New Zealand today as I need to be home tomorrow night and quite frankly don't need the anxiety/stress of not knowing. Jetstar will give me a refund/credit/blowjob once they decide to cancel my flight and not before - by which time I'll have no option but to drive a rental car.
So Jetstar, I hope you get dragged through the ACCC and raped in the arse with the rough end of a Pineapple. Coonts!

You do business travel on Jetstar?? Good grief.
Rock up tp Budget Rentals and see if they have any cars they need taken North. It's like $20/day plus your gas and you're away.

Sympathies mate;
Have heard to many stories about this outfit fukin up peoples holidays/trips from simply cancelling a flight to over selling it and and not refunding if the person could not go on the flight they wanted to put them on.
Had one friend who had his flight changed during the night before his flight (which was early o'clock the next morning). He told them the flight they offered meant his trip was now pointless but because they weren't changing his return arrangements they would only refund the outward costs!!!
Bunch of wankers IMO
I would never use them.....ever!

Used them once, very seldom fly.
There were no natural disasters, I rocked up with correct time to spare, quickly checked in (that had failed online previously), and waited for plane. Easy enough.
I did use Air NZ for business to Christchurch earlier this year, and the self check-in for baggage and tickets etc was super easy!

I fly Auckland Wellington for work fairly often, always air nz.
No drama, no stress, great service. Well worth the additional cost.

"Service" is a lost art in the air travel industry. A shredded, burned and buried art. Jetstar are the lowest of the cattle class fronts for the industry, they're a joke.
I declined a 6 day extension to a very lucritive off shore contract because the only seats home were Jetstar.

Think Jetstar are effectvely Quantas in dungarees. They certainly started as Quantas's answer to the Aussie govt's threat to put the squeeze on if Quantas abandoned marginal national routes. This is the "service" you get when a service isn't actually viable. Trouble is the "non-service" practice has spread, it's now the norm for some main-line routes.

Yes tomorrow certainly will be a full day of hurry up and wait. Frustrating. I have my mum flying down from Auckland to help me with some care this week, and I cross my fingers she makes it as I am relying on her heavily for many reasons. I told her not to fly jetstar, and stick with Air NZ, but she wanted to save $20 and went with the cheapos. Mmmmm Fingers crossed!!! Would so love to have her here for my party.

Not much down time on this trip mate, I made the mistake of bringing the laptop with me.
Riding home in the rain with 40kg of baggage and borrowed gear Vs. a $56 rental car with radio, heater & electric windows - I'll be in touch......... yeah, right!
I do appreciate the offer bud. I'm flying home with Air NZ tomorrow, I just can't stomach the piss poor customer relations from Jetstar.

I get to fly a bit...and jet star have earned my badge as the least competent Airline operation I have had the misfortune to deal with...
After flying continous 3/4 of the way around the world to get home.....yes 3/4.....on a one world booking, I finally made it to Auckland ...one hop to go...chch on Jetstar....checked in and waiting....and waiting...."Ladies and gentlemen, Jetstar wish to make the following anouncement, flight### to Chch has been cancelled due to a shortage of crew".....that is A SHORTAGE OF CREW...30minutes before departure?
So I wander over to the Air NZ counter without queing for a jetstar refund. The next Air NZ flight was in 45 minutes....but only double price premium seat tickets available but WTH I just wanted to get home.
It does not end there....I get on the Air NZ plane with the 6 other passangers...
I ask my self why the auckland ANZ staff had not turned around and immediatly offered $75 to $100 one of fares to Chch....they would have filled the flight...and rubbed jetstar's nose in it to boot.
Air NZ were just bloody lucky I was not a share holder....I would have made a right song and dance about turning away all that business.
I now flatly refuse to fly Jetstar....and you should to

I was booked to use them a couple years back for a Bledisloe test up in Auckland, meeting a mate there with terminal cancer...last boys weekend and all that. Had trouble doing the online check in thing the day before so called them and said I wanted to ensure there would be no problems with my reservation with the flight. I was reassured there would be no issues at all (I booked months before) and when I got to the check in counter was asked to stand to one side as I would only be on the flight if someone didn't turn up as it was full. WTF?!
As you say sir, coonts!
PS. I did make it on but was pretty furious after booking so far in advance and checking only the day before to make sure there would be no issues given the online checkin errors.

Hope they aren't red zoned, or would that be best? Hard tell as it depends so much on personal circumstances.

No, no family are red zoned thankfully, although they are out east. My brother in Burwood is 3 houses away from the red zone, but luckily has only minor damage. Hopefully some people can begin to move on with their lives after today.

Too chicken to try Champix - I'm unstable enough as it is now thank you very much.
Home now, Air New Zealand are great. Nice wee snack & a plunger coffee - no cash payment required. I love those general knowledge quiz things they have running during the flight also, passes the time nicely.
Jetstar can go fuck themselves. I arranged a refund today on the unused portion of my travel - if they had have done that last night when I asked I would still be happy to fly with them. The call centre is an absolute joke too, I could hardly understand the guy I spoke with today.

Stoaked... Got my mum safely down from Auckland to Wellington yesterday. She was in Jetstarm but I managed to book her very last minute on an Air NZ flight for $240.00. Extremely expensive, but worth it for her being at the one party she wants to be at. Choice. I'll be flying her home Air NZ again too. They are doing well with all of this, and I'm thrilled to have my mum here helping me for the weekend.

Seriously google "jetstar" not exactly known as the "the way to travel".
Sorry usually I am not this bitter. But turn this topic into bike related. Imagine if someone cried "My chinese scooter broke down, and the dealer doesn't know when it will go again, and they refuse to give me a backup bike - so now I'm stuck"

Poppycock. Anyone purchasing such a scooter has a choice. If they're clever it'll be an informed choice. If you want to fly to a destination not on a main route then increasingly you don't have a choice, you get low quality service like it or not.

I don't particularly care. My point (in reply to the pointless running down of the existence of this thread) had nothing to do with Jetstars feelings.
Seriously google "jetstar" not exactly known as the "the way to travel".
And what does google find you? Places like this where people talk about issues. What's the problem?
(Instead of whining here, why not start your own thread, titled "Boo hoo I think some thread topics are dumb"?)
According to this thread, I must be the luckiest man in the whole wide NZ. I had 0 problem with Jetstar...
And yes I did some traveling in 2010 and once earlier this year.
