Can you buy touch up paint for bikes? Got a couple of tiny pok marks on my fairing that I'd like to get touched up, and wondering if you can buy those tiny touch up pens to match our bike colours like you can with cars.

Great thread and good question... So you guys reckon I can call up the bike shop and ask for a black pen thingy to touch up my farings? Any particular brand or anything?

if you have a specific colour you can try model paints, look up your bike on the tamiya web site and if they make a model then they also make the exact paint to match, they even have metallic green for ZX12R/KRR150s, then nip down the model shop and for 5 bucks you can get paint and a brush.
touch it up and it looks good, but to get rid of any imperfections in the touch up you want to use something like this
http://www.ehl.co.nz/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=8540&Category_Code=Paint
it smooths out the blobs left behind
.
.
You can buy it for BMW's, I bought some for one of mine.
Red is a notorious colour for matching, my suggestion is that you try it on an inconspicuous part of the bike first!
Also red fades quicker than any other colour, so even though the touch-up paint may match what the colour was when the bike was new, it's possible the paint on the bike may have faded slightly.

Our local hardware shop (In Newtown, Wellington - Union Hardware) will make you a spray bomb and a pen to match whatever color you like for $30. Bring them your paint code or else a side cover or what-have-you.
For Black,no worrys.
black felt tip...like,if you're being fussy.

I'll have to check that out. My bike is a dark shade of metallic green and car has same shade green but without metallic - they can share touchup paint.
Before I forget, if you scratch your silver FXR150 chassis. Dulex (?) has silver metallic gloss (?) (I know what the can looks like). Have found the spray can in shops but  no silver. A bike shop accidently scratched up my chassis recently and it's a perfect match
If your bike is still its original colour it may have a colour code stamped on a plate somewhere - maybe even alongside the VIN, possibly even in your owners book. Note down this number and contact your local dealer.

Try the local street kids. They'll even give you a custom paint job if you want.

Yep, and yep.
If you have the code (mine's on a sticker under the seat), go to an auto paint supply place and they'll mix some up in a tin / touch up bottle or spraycan. Even if you don't have the code, they can probably match it.
Either that, or go to somewhere like Repco and guess at a colour.
Reminds me - I have to go to Smits and get some BeautifulBlue paint..

Well I went down to the local hobby shop (In Highbury), and grabbed some Tamiya black paint to touch up my farings... The guy behind the counter asked what model I was making... told him it was for my bike and why... turns out he's a biker too, his first comment was "I never ride anything under 1100cc's" :tugger:
However, he did advise that I buy the other type of paint (can't remember the name now but can look at it again tonight and post the name tomorrow if anyone is keen) because the Tamiya paints come off very easy, anything like petrol, alcohol or damn near anything makes the Tamiya paint smudge and come off...
Tamiya only cost $4 and the one I brought cost $3.50, plus another $3 for a small fine paint brush...
I havn't applied the paint yet due to shitty weather, but when I do I'll let ya'll know how well it works :ride:
