Hey guys,

So I've just passed my learners and want to get a bike, hopefully a KLX250 so I can use it on the road a bit and get out in the dirt too.

First things first though I need some gear to minimise damage if/when I come off.

I've started with helmets, still need to work on gloves, pants, boots and jacket. I figure one of the entry level Adv helmets would be a good option, so an HJC (CL-XS), Rjays(Dakar), FFM(Matrix) or Zeus(2100B) basically.

Is there a shop in Welly that is likely to have a good selection of these?

I'd really like to go and try them on and see if one of the brands fits better than the rest.

While I'm at it would be cool to find a shop that had a good selection of entry level clothing for dual sport riding.

So, any recommendations welcome, shops, helmets or clothing.

Cheers
Mike

Shop recommendations in Wellington for protective gear?

Pretty much any Dairy will sell them, or the sex shops.
And yeah....Wellington gals...maybe ask for the double strength ones.

Edit. but on the bike front.....Wellington Motorcycles - im sure they do the adventure gears too.
Bottom of courtney place yeah?

Wellington Motorcycles

*Nods* Although the shops out in the Hutt seem to have better stocks of dirt / adv stuff.

Try Richards motorcycles in J'ville. Always found them helpful

TSS - you wont go wrong.........
Always have sale items and a huge range of gear - well worth the trip out and they know about service. Not just a couple of high end ticket items, a good selection and prices that are cheaper than most in the lower north island.

My visits to TSS have increased ten fold since that gorgeous wee thing started working there. Instead of buying a whole bolt kit I'll buy one every two days and so forth.

Nah great bunch down there and great selection.

Have to agree with TSS, Ive been to all the Wellington shops to see the range of gear, and Andrew/Ivan are just downright good at their job. As I am a 365 motorcyclist I often want non stock items, they come up with the goods just about every time. Yes you can get the gear over tardme from various merchants, and maybe a little cheaper?? (Andy/Ivan will often match the price, or find a similar product) Simply put though, I will pay that 'little extra' for the service they give!!!

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all your ideas on shops.

Went out to TSS today, awesome place!!! Spent a good hour or so trying on gear, Dom was awesome, answered all the stupid questions we could come up with.

Have a good idea of the kit we need when we get ourselves some bikes.

Cheers

Hey Mike, glad you liked the shop. It's always nice to see new faces. Dom, Max, Ivan and Andrew are phenominaly dedicated to their trade and I'd hazard the most enthusiastic spares and accessory staff in the region. Dom's a funny little fucker too. Max is mint. Andrew's knowledgable. Ivan has the bum aids.............
