Easiest thing to do is find someone with the fancy tool!
If you are able to the best thing to do is to make a slide hammer that attaches to the thread around the centre.

Yep. Probably easier to get someone to turn something up that some kind of attachment at the other end for a slide hammer. Or buy a tool. Or go to a friendly local bikeshop with the engine in the boot and ask nicely/bribe them to use theirs.

I just happen to have one of those tools in the garage.

HA! why didnt i think of that before.. course henk would have it.. its alright whatever diseases he gave it cant be worse than what i have.. we can trade like baseball cards.
cool when would be a good time to pick it up?
Henk

Any time after 10 in the morning will be fine.
If we manage it properly our diseases can fight it out amongst themselves and we might end up cured.

Oh dear... this is how aids started..... mixing of diseases... what am I going to catch at the next bucket meeting.
Henk.. A grade for me now... hope you are going to be nice... toot and flash your lights to let me know you want to pass...:killingme
Would stay in B grade but everyone I race with is going to A grade and I will look bad staying in b grade by myself... I'm thinking of adding a reversing camera so i can block you ... blue flag whats that mean..

blue flag whats that mean..
Means we still have that date up the bank in the sweeper if you don't get out of the way.
To be honest I find the scariest part of a race weekend to be open practice. I managed to run into the back of someone going into the infeild corner one saturday because they backed off way earlier than I was expecting.

You need to remove or unwind the plunger chain tensioner , its at the rear of the barrel, held on by 2 screws. are the cam lobes trying to push the valves open, they shouldnt be.
given that you are having a few problems, when you get it together dont just try to kickstart it, you could end up with 2 bent valves, this I know from experience ! Just gently turn over by hand or with a socket to make sure everything is clear
breathe in breathe out, dont get shitty with it , it wont help

Anyone have special tool, part number : F#CKNST@P!DS@ZUK! which helps pull the FXR front forks apart?
Its like a super big really long allen key type thing I thinking which goes down inside the fork leg so you can undo the little bolt on the bottom.
No biggie but if theres one handy would be appreciated.
yea I know a)I don't need to pull them apart that far
and b) I don't ride an fxr:laugh:

Yep its a prick to undo these.
I have a high tech tool for this job...piesce of square wood that I sharpened at one end... I then hammer it in to the alen screw in side the forks and hold it with a spanner or vice gripps then undo the other end.
I have used the same tool for many set of forks now and it perfect.
Let me know if you want a picture.

Other alternatives to the sound advice offered above include; A nut or two of the correct size welded to a bit of rod, pipe or locked on to some threaded rod.
Or a larger (prob 1/2 inch) socket set with a long enough extension and a socket that jams into the bit you need to hold. You have to be careful not to cause damage doing it this way.

Pretty much what we do too, but we use a brass rod.
Anybody know what size allen key is required?
I could probably throw something together given that information.
Personally I've never bothered taking the forks that far apart.

just use a rattlegun, its undone before the fork realises whats going on and tries to resist

Or just put the spring back in & compress it against something. But I have a bolt the right hex welded on a T bar. Rattle gun is easier if you have air in your compressor.

It helps immensely! I had a lawn mower that required some severe tinkering every time I wanted it to start. About the 20th time I decided to vent with a sledge hammer. Full on Basil Fawlty car scene.
It felt great:yes: & ever since the $20 a month I pay someone to mow the lawn is still like sweet fruit as I realised that my time is more important than fitting that 1/2 drudgery into a sunny bit of the weekend.

That was my first attempt.... result... stripped bolt head... next drill.
Still use my high tech tool and a rattle gun... best tool ever made... except the tool god gave me... now that's just a wepon of mass destruction ...:killingme
