No - as I said before 187mph - indicated 299......not radar gun tested

As yes - used toooooo....trying to hit max speed in a different toy now - and no, not a jetski

PS those are track speeds on bike geared differently from the road and not having 3km run up......I was doing 200kph when I hit the straight

Ah! so the guys on the track are doing a standing start on the longest straight? And their factory/sponsored highly tuned (blueprinted?) bikes just don't quite have the grunt your previous bike had?

Next you'll be telling me the road was downhill and the wind behind you.

Interesting that the Hondas are at the top, and the new ZX10 is fairly well down the order. Ah well.

The Top few are superbike, while the R1 and zx10 say superstock, wonder what that means? Cant compare them?

They are quicker than the gsxr1000 'superbike'.

Wkid - you should have been racing at Bathrust Oz, Tony Rees could ONLY manage just on 300Ks down conrod by radar, we should have had your motor then we may have won instead of coming 2nd. :p from memory when the oz's came over for trans tasman zx12r was hitting just over 300 back striagth of puke and the R1's of Tony and Curtain were around the high 280s, we ran second here also.
But as you say you did change the gearing which would stuff your speedo reading up big time.

they had 2 days of testing. the 'superbikes' were 'factory superbike spec' the 'superstock' were supposedly stock with slip-on & sticky test tyres. the R1's listed were 04's.

Based on these versus max speeds - the RI's appear to be able to carry some good corner speeds as they are up in lap times, but not in top speeds

will do - was running diff rear spocket taming down acceleration - but improving top end slightly - plus was running the Power Commander (which is now for sale by the way)....

PS - wouldn't it be nice to see Bathurst return to its original roots as a bike track - imagine SBK or GP running a round there......nice!

Guess these new fangled bikes must get their speedo drives from the gearbox. All the bikes Ive ever ridden get their speedo drives from the front axle. Doesn't matter what you do to your drive train front axle still rotates the same.

Well, some of the British bikes from the 50s had gearbox driven speedos, but gearing changes were mainly done on the engine sprocket,so no matter.Worse was the Smiths Cronometric speedo - which wasn't in metric at all,but in mph.It took a reading every 3/4 second apparently, but seemed more like 10 seconds - you would be staring at the speedo sitting on 98mph for ages, look back to the road in front only to catch the needle jump, look back at the speedo only to see it on 98 again! Sitting at 30mph in the city and see the needle jump to 35! no wonder they didn't use radar!

Fark, its been a while since I've seen a sportsbike come out with its speedo drive off the front wheel, well not the ones I've been paying attention too anyway. Even my ancient 1997 GSXR750 is driven from the box.

Maybe I should be in Motat...

Seems like a backward step, don't they expect us to change our sprocket ratios anymore!

Yeah, that is quite common these days.

My 1992 CBR250RR has a gearbox driven speedo aswell.

I guess I've been riding for awhile, always on older bikes never late model in any era - some of these bikes were older than me at the time.I still like old bikes - just not the fuckwits that own them...the pedantic ''oh,they never came out in that colour in the last week of july!'' or the disposable income that would ''like a classic bike''
