I missed The Who, as I was sealing and gib-stopping the sleepout in preparation for wallpapering, but Gini called me in for the Floyd bit.

Dave Gilmour has always been one of my greatest influences as far as lead guitar goes - it was an absolute joy to hear him and Roger Waters playing together again - something I never imagined I'd see in my lifetime.

A good concert by all accounts - a great cause - pity it won't make a damn bit of difference. :no:

As for chucking money at problems in poor countries - If by my sponsoring a family I can ensure that they're protected against diseases that would otherwise kill them, then I sleep well at night. As do I when I get a letter from them telling me that I have been responsible for helping their children to attend school, learn to read and write, get a job, help contribute to re-building their country again. I get a kick out of knowing that the $30 I contribute, when I feel like it, which some people may spend of a tinnie or a few beers, will save someone’s eyesight, or help drill a hole in order for them to drink fresh water. I like the thought of knowing that $50 - a tank full of petrol for the car - will feed a family for a month, or that $10 would buy them a basic farming kit in order to help them grow their own crops so as to help them avoid suffering a slow painful death through starvation. That's what 'chucking' money at the problem does. And until these people manage to get off the bottom of the ladder, with a little help from people from rich and pampered societies, they'll never manage to get off the bottom of Maslows triangle of hierarchy, the pit of what life can throw at them, and grow into being a self supporting society, proud people, in a secure society.
