Presumably this is bullshit, or grossly exaggerated, or any one of the other tricks regularly used by Stuff, so does anyone know the real story (http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/5210052/School-offside-with-Rugby-World-Cup-rules)?

I wonder if a few well placed bomb threats during those three games would upset their little rugby games?

Pretty confident it is true bro. There is a 500m exclusion zone around Westpac Stadium in Wgtn - no vendors of any kind without RWC consent !!

Pubs etc cannot even use many terms used to describe the tournament - they can't even elude to them discreetly.

Yeah I have seen this in the news. How is that enforced unless a law has been passed? To be honest, If I was the school, I would just do it. See how the media react to the school being sued.

No one can profit within 500 meters of the venues?

What a crock of shit. So no service stations can sell pies to punters on the way home?

This is just ridiculous. Why should the school not be able to make a profit, of providing a convenience to traffic around the stadium. These people planning this World cup must be drafting bills with crayons and scribbles. No common sense for anything whatsoever.

They can... They just can't call 'em world cup pies or mention the rugby in anyway.

Not like it's a proper fucking sport anyway.

I don't believe existing businesses such as servos or carparking will have any problems. But you won't be able to get a stall licence or hire out some space as a parking area.

There will be enforcement officers from MoED as I recall. Council Enforcement Officers have also been given the opportunity to volunteer as RWC enforcement officers.

No thanks !

Bring on December when all this bs is over, changing school term dates, blocking free trade all so some overseas wnakers can make money from a bunch of posers playing in the mud. A complete load of bollocks.

rant over of to take my pills.

I love all the comments, about how the RWC was sold to NZ about injecting millions of dollars into the economy.

What the rich (and greedy bastards) meant to say "inject millions into our own pockets".

As is usual with greed - everyone loses.
RWC goodwill
School fundraising
Public trying to get a carpark

RWC = dumb, short sighted and GREEDY bastards. No wonder their ticket sales are behind.

Take more than the RWC being successful to help NZ inc now.

It's to stop businesses piggy backing on the RWC when others have shelled out for sponsorship rights - the old "ambush marketing" gig.

It seems that the MED has said that this school will not be caught under the rules after all, which is sensible given all the "Stadium of 4 million" guff that the RFU has used to promote the event overseas...

Have used the school carpark facilities, easy to park and with traffic organisers the flow is ok at end of games, and I don't mind giving donation to the school,a short walk to ground.

>>given all the "Stadium of 4 million" guff<<

Ain't that the troof.

They have grossly over-estimated the amount of Australians who are interested in Rugby too.

NSW and QLD is mainly rugby league.
VIC, TAS, SA and WA play Aussie Rules.

The apparel is like all sports - changes with fashion. Currently they are pretty similar to those the Rugby players wear. Possibly slightly shorter because when they drop punt the ball their toes end up quite a bit higher than their head on the follow through. Non nut crushers.

The thing that surprised me about this was that there are 40 gubblemunt minions who are all about enforcing the directives of the RWC.

Yet again, the profit is privatised and the cost is socialised.

Fuck the rugby world cup. All the profit (if there is any) will go to a private, for profit corporation, and the taxpayers pick up the tab. Fuck everything about it. Ive hated rugby inc ever since the thing went professional. Before that, I didnt care about it.

Stadium of 3,999,999.

Is this fuckwitism on in Orkers on 22 September? There's a rock and roll show on at the Powerstation that day and I'd kind of like to travel for it.
