Pretty low speeds really overall aren't they? I'd clock in excess of that that top speed almost every decent length ride I went on.

Wasn't there a guy in a BMW 750 clocked doing over 200 along the northen motorway early last year?

They are pretty unexciting speeds which is party why I posted it up, I guess the reality is that people are sesible enough to not push the limits in places where the po-po is likely to be. Unlike the idiots who made the list and tried it on SH1/2.

Pretty much. Wonder if those "results" are bad timing or bad luck. (SH25 in the middle of summer, come on!)

There was a guy clocked at over 200k north of Otaki last year to, but there are two reasons he didn't make the list;
1/ Clocked by cop not camera
2/ never caught

Oh the shame of all those zombies the cameras did nothing to slow down.

Looking at those (slow speeds) it is safer to speed in the morning.

Yeah, used to be. But I've seen just one there in the last three years trundling past there every day. Two, counting the one lurking at the new waterfall road turn off.

That's a bit too quick for the trailer

I was doing some much higher early morning speeds on a daily basis; uphill and in a safe area: Until one day there was a cop car waiting for me at the top of the hill.

Lucky I saw him before he hit the 'ping' button. I guess the word gets around

Heh I think I know the guys. Even driven his car.
Scary fucken car, lowers the seat the faster you go.
Only 200 huh, thats pretty low considering he used to build the SuperV8's. Even did some of the engine work on that CAT camaro.
I bet it was him, he's a mad fella.

Don't expect speeds faster than that really - cop cars are good for 220kph, same can be said for speed camera's. Or perhaps we are just all too old now.

hehehehe. Reckon if ya go fast enuff, the speed camera wont get a decent photo?
Fine on a bike....if the camera is in front. But in a car....not keen on experimenting.

Be a different chap, the one who got caught was a 19 year old, hard worker, paid for the car himself and it was a damn good example. The 850Ci are a superb bit of machinery, I'd love to own one, I've driven the 840Ci and passengered an 850Ci, the amount of miles you can destroy in one is amazing, haven't been in anything that'll do the same thing.

Even if he's not a superV8 builder, an 850Ci will happily tootle along at 200, as quiet as anything

Seems about 180 is the cutoff, you'll die between 101-180, but after that you just gotta make sure you pull into your driveway with surgical precision.

Or was it first to bin wins...

i do remember hearing about two bikes racing back from up north, somewhere just north of Helensville....doing a wee bit over double the open road speed limit....when a cop passed them (goin the other way of course!!).

They then sped up.

They should list make and model for each. Would be interesting to see the spread based on whether it's performance based cars/bikes/shitty bombs being taken to their limit.

Killing and injuring people on our roads is good for the economy. Keeps panel beaters and paramedics employed.

This is true. A chap recently went through a stop sign and killed a good mate of mine, he got charged with driving causing injury and that got him; home detention and to pay $5k in reparation.

my favourite is the munter clocked at 200k at 2.26 pm on Christmas Eve. It strikes me as a time when there might be more than the average number of po po about.

My bike is exciting enough at 120kph.

if you really want a sensation of speed, get a 125cc scooter and try and tap it flat out. indicated 95kph bitches!!! rather twitchy though.
