I cant see a fuel filter on my CBX250RS. Guess theres an in tank one. Is it a good idea to fit an inline one? I want to replace the hose anyway so seems like a good time. If I do, who does a decent looking one thats not huge like a car one?

You can get a inline filter for a under a 5 and couple of bucks for fuel line.......there is a filter inside the tank on the fuel tap, just remove the fuel tap and cheak the condition of that filter, and you will proberly have a o-ring or gasket between the tap and tank be good idea too replace it if you can,

dogsnbikes summed it up. Will add....not using an inline filter on a bike with a 20 year old tank is pretty risky.....its gona rust.

That was exactly my thoughts which is why I want to do it. Not much hose there so will have to be a small one.

use more hose and make a loop..............if you don't have a right angle filter

They do actually make r/a filters. Many a bike has been stopped by a kinked line due to a filter. A loop is possibly going to cause an issue if there isn't much fall to the carb esp on low tank.
Sadly rusty tanks will have silt in them that will still get through any filter. The filter will take out the thick stuff. this slit builds up eventually blocks teh jets. But you will see it int he bottom of your carb if its an issue. Then search on tank sealer.

AT YOUR PLACE ...
At the NEXT service ... ask for one to be fitted ...
And ... At that age of bike ... I MAY SUGGEST ... the tank be lined ...
Money WELL spent ...

Your only wire brushing the outside around the holes, the inside is taken care of with the marine clean and metal treatment steps of your por15 tank kit.....

OIC. Where do you buy the kits from?

To clean out the inside of the tank ... washed pea gravel swirled around inside the tank will take off most of the rough stuff. Pea gravel ... because if one stone isn't tipped out it will rattle and you can hear it. Flush with a bit of petrol after each "swirl" ...
Depending how bad the tank is ... three or four times may be needed ...

nice vid Kickaha, cheers.
Now, anyone out there know what Zinc becomes as it breaks down? Is it a steel/rust form, or does it completely break down?
Wondering if anyone ever figured a way to use some kind of sacrificial anode in a tank - one that doesnt require power (obviously!), and one that breaks down to something 'safe' for motors.
