Optrex would have done the trick, instead of having to wear an eye pad....

Congratulations James! You deserve some better fortune.

Mrs H recently got an iPad2. I'm as yet unconvinced by it. A lot of the stuff I do online requires a "proper" keyboard and I don't like the way some apps (like Stuff and Ancestry.com for example) dumb down the online experience or actually remove functionality.

That said, Safari is a nice lite browser and it sings along quite nicely on Wi-Fi.

Angry Birds is much more enjoyable on the iPad.

Buy 'garage band'. Even if you don't use the drum machine.
Lane Splitter is a bike game that will make you giggle for a few minutes too.

So far I'm in about $150 on apps.

Congrats Mr. Pretty cool to win something like that, and have heard they are super cool to!! I won a trip to Shanghai a few years back, the only travel I've ever done as it was free haha. Addicted to competitions, you just never know your luck like you today. Choice as!

I love it, simply don't use a pc at home any more except for synching.
You should get garage band, I think you will really like it.

Favourite Apps:
(search em)
No particular order

iTorch - does what it says

File Magnet - transfer computer files and read them - pdfs word docs

Calculator - adds up

50 in 1 APP box - OK utility and some dross

A heap of readers - Herald BBC ESPN NBA Eurosport Met Service. - Reading on the backlit screen and touching the navigation is really nice.

iBooks - Only classics available in NZ, but OK, I'm enjoying the contrast of ploughing through 'Thus Spake Zarathustra' on a hi tech device. The back lit screen is etc etc.

Several note taking apps - handy for press work, have type, handwriting and audio recording apps. 'Write Pad' is good, 'Penultimate' is OK - they all work best with a good stylus - I haven't been able to find one yet. Adobe eazel is a waste of $.

Cameras - bought several - 'Pro Camera' offers better control - same very ordinary image quality. 'Camcorder Pro' ditto.

'Filterstorm Pro' is good image manipulation but comparatively expensive.

Adobe Photoshop Express - is a must have.

Video Playlist - I like it for queueing up vids, particularly on a plane.

Angry Birds - good game

Fruit Ninja - stress ball with sharp implements

Vector Tank - arcade classic

Yahtzee - yuh, but

RealRacing2HD - mint - 16 cars on the track. Good gameplay.

Need For Speed Pursuit - fair

MAd Skills MX - bike giggle

Numerous sports sims - I like the cricket ones.

Glow Hockey - kick its arse.

Congratulations, James.

I must've turned into a Luddite; I have no desire to have an iPad or iPhone, and I'm hoping that my ageing Motorola cellphone will continue to behave so I don't have to sort out a replacement.
Oh yeah - the most disturbing symptom is I have little desire to test-ride other bikes...
This'll be the longest time in nearly forever that I haven't even been near another bike.

I was the same for a long time, but I have found the iPad is one of those devices you wonder how you got on without it, a little like the cell phone these days.

iPads are cool. You can get all sorts of addon accesories for them. Including iWave and iFlouro - making you popular and visible while web surfing safely.

A. fit inside a shoe box.

Serious A. Nothing that I know of...other than its farken portable as...makes a notebook/laptop feel like an antique.
"But" theres lots that a iPhone and iPad cannot do (well) that a notebook/laptop can do.
You really need to buy everything, iPhone, iPad, iBook, iMac. If you dont believe me, just ask 'Steve".

My flatmate has a miniature laptop (Not a notebook/netbooky thingy) and it's disturbingly powerful. I don't know of any practical use an Ipad thingy can offer over any of the computers in our house.
I built a ZZR600 for $400 more than a decent Ipad thing and I bet you it's more fun :innocent:

I'm lusting after a Samsung Galaxy 7"
It fits in the inside pocket of a jacket. An ipad won't.

The little Telecom ZTE V9 is a great introduction to tablet devices too.

All I need with a communication device is for it to be able to ring and send/receive text messages...I dont even use the photo/camera thing it has.
Im off to get my next free phone soon but wont be getting the one with screen that scolls up and down and any other way...keeping it simple since 1995.
