all of you who know me know i've had no life recently because i've been finishing a feature film.

THE WORLD PREMIERE OF surchicks first film is "CHAPTER & VERSE" 90mins screens at 6pm, monday the 11th July, at village hoyts cinema 6 (imax complex) on Queen st.

It's an experimental doucmentary about Northern Ireland's troubles, the media in Northern Ireland, and the effect of the troubles on the landscape in Northern Ireland. It contains shots of hundreds of Northern Irish locations & interview material recorded with famous Northern Irish political & religious leaders (Bishop Emmeritus of 'Derry & Ian Paisley), civilians, relatives of victims of the troubles and academics.

If you were ever curious about the troubles in Northern Ireland-this is your movie. 4 years of shooting locations-hundreds of localities-belfast, derry, strabane, portrush, castlederg, bundoran, sligo, portadown, sion mills...

LED, MDU, BUGJUICE, HDTBOY, SLIPSTREAM, KWAKAKID, FROSTY, DA WESTIE CREW AND EVERY other KB'er... da details are on the NZFF website:
www.nzff.co.nz (look up/search "chapter and Verse") me real name is A. monteith :devil2: :devil2:

And to think that you, and the chick who was stranded on 22 the other month with the flat tyre, are one in the same person Alex!

I hope to see it and give you my honest opinion of it.

if ya book ya tickets before the 8th ya get a dollar off-makin it 13 bucks.
it is better to book in advance/get tickets (as it is for all film fest films cause if you just turn up the good ones (like the stunning GHOST DOG by jim J. the other year) mostly sell out. and each film only gets screened tiwce. :Punk:

Just txted you mate re ticket.

I have the wee booklet and if booked today they will be $13 a ticket.

Ok now we have to work out where to park our bikes on the night.

Do we park out front.... or should we all park in Aotea square carpark in the bike section for FREE.?

Film starts at 6pm...
so we should meet at 5.30pm or close to that....

I'm not sure how much room is out the front on Queen street to park our bikes safely... Can anyone advise on that. Thanks.

I think there will be some parks up the side (south side) Im not sure. I work on fanshawe and dont want a wet bike so I will either leave here or the one under aotea square (free goodness)

TICKET UPDATE
Ok confirming tickets pre-emtivly. we currently have 9 people definately coming. we are cinema 6. rows D and E which is 5 from the front because the back is booked up. numbers 4-8 on both rows. so basically we form a little box 2x5
I have booked 10 tickets. the last one is either for surfhick unless she has her own seating sorted out. or if I get anymore confirmations today (or a gear storage seat) there ARE more available either side but we gotta get in quick to make sure no one else books them

If you wish to pay by internet banking. my account is (EDIT-PLS PM ME) PLEASE PUT YOUR USERNAME IN THE REFERNCE. they are $13 but for some reason ticketek charges a fee for booking it so if you feel like making it $14 a ticket then thats up to you, im not asking you to but its there.

To Summarise:

At this stage we have one paid for seat left

Tickets are $13

6:00PM Monday the 11th of July * Cinema 6 in the IMAX Complex

I suggest we meet at the playhouse at 5:30 or before.

There is room for more but please advise as soon as possible I will be doing another booking at 5:00pm today before ticketek close.

I think I will park my bike, underneath in Aotea Square, cos its right next door to the cinema.... and its FREE... and my bike will keep dry. Just make sure that you lock up your bike securely.
You park in by where the tellars are... and over to your right is where bikes park for FREE. Just come on in and DON'T hit the barriers going in or out.

Go take the armour out..stick it all in your washing machine with a bunch of powder. Wash It.
Take it out and hang it somewhere.. outside if its not raining... inside if it is. It will dry in time if you do it tomorrow. Mine just takes about a day in the bathroom with the de-humidifier goin full tit.
It will be a bit stiff when you stick it back on.. but you will smell all lemon like. or gay lavender if you have washing powder that buggie uses
You'd be better using a wool wash liquid or summat gentle rather than washing powder, which has caustic in it (not the best for leather...)

Whenever you want to have a story in a newspaper.....
ALWAYS write the story yourself, and give it to them.

So that way, nothing should be misquoted.
I learnt that after working in a MP's office for a while.

Is this a dress-up occasion? Don't want to sound stupid here (not more than I already do anyway), but I don't want to turn up in jeans if everyone is goin all-out. But then don't want to be too overly dressed and everyone turns up in jeans.. cos then I'll just look like a twot.

Also, after the show, who's up for Dennys in the city? Close by, cheap 'n' cheerful, and plenty to choose from.. Not going to be too late out, cos a) it's school tomorrow; b) Laguna Seca Moto GP is on Prime tonight (what time again..??); and c) I feel and look like crap, so I'm sure I'll overstay my welcome..

so who's up for it then?

I did have 3 tickets (me, Lady Bug & Speedy). Speedy then took off on his own thing claiming world peace or summut, so it was me for 2, and Speedy. Then Postit wanted to come too, so I was back to 3 (me, ladybug & postie). Now postman can't make it, I only need 2, so MR can have the ticket that postie+ was going to have, and I'm bringing speedy with me. So I'll have 2 in my car, plus Speedy clinging to the roofbars (so 3 in total, not 4).
Clear?

The Dennys I was thinking of is the one on Hobson St, opposite the Skytower. 5 mins walk, or if it's hacking down like this, then a minutes' drive. There's parking at Dennys, some undercover too, but then you have to walk over to Dennys outside..

SurfChick...

Aweome... I mentioned to Bill and Carole that I was sitting there beeming like an idiot at the end of it... I'm so proud of what you've done but I'm not sure it's my place to be so...

What you've achieved and been through in the last couple of years... WOW.

Got some behind the scenes updates from Carole too... something about you wanting to interview the IRA...

... so you went to the HQ and pressed the doorbell... talk about guts!

Just don't do the same if you do a doco on Al Qaeda or summat.... ok?

Back on topic though - the film itself wasn't enjoyable - but the journey was (if that makes sense). It made me think. I made me realise just how damned lucky we are in NZ, and it presented the situation in a manner I've NEVER seen before. No obvious agenda (which in turn was backed up with you not really knowing why you made the film).

All up... blardy awesome!

Enjoy your trip!

My honest opinion:

I knew that this was a documentary and not a movie and I don't know jack shit about Northern Irland and the conflicts with in. When we went through the names of the people being killed, I became anxious to know more about how or why these people were killed. I must admit, 3/5 of the narators were quite very difficult to understand with their heavy Irish accent (specially the old woman) but it wouldn't have been authentic if it were some english person telling the story, I guess.

I kept an open mind through out and tried to grasp as much as I could. At times I was moved and at times I found it a bit difficult to understand what was being potraited.

All I can say is that, it doesn't take an artist to realise that Dr. Monteith is quite very talented and I am sure the movie was a success in reaching out to most people.

I am no artist and on a normal given day, I wouldn't be watching an experimental film but it was certainly an interesting experience. I am actually quite fasinated to find out a bit more about northern Irland after watching this doco, so thank you Dr. Monteith for creating "Chapter and Verse" and sharing your interest and passion with the rest of us.

I must admit though, I was most excited by the little kids doing donuts at the end of the movie but hey, that's just me being a blunt racer dude. :)

Cheers, Sudeep.

Oh yea, the night just seemed to be full of surprises after the movie.

After the movie, I went back to my bike. Only to find out some fuken mother f-er had kicked it off the side stand and dropped it on it's side. Luckily there was no damage but if only I could just catch these pricks for once...

Then I had to play rescue angel for a bunch of pisshead hobos who looked like escapies from Mt. Eden. They were broken down on the side of the road at 1:00AM while it was pissing down. Took me an hour to carry them to town and back to the middle nowhere where their car was stuck.

It was fuken cool to meet up with my old friend so it was a good night alround. I hope the rest of yous kept out of trouble.

Where did you park your bike?

Pyrocam, Parsley, HDTboy and me parked our bikes in Aotea Square carpark.
No damage done to our bikes.

No drama for me going home..... I did however have to go via K' Rd to get to the Mobil gas station to refuel as I forgot I was on reserve... and not enough gas left to get me home.
It was friggen pissing down... hard to see the road/motorway. I was totally drenched... still drying all my gear out.

Can someone PLEASE invent a wiper to go on the visor.

OH ok, I tried to spot the other bikes but didn't know you guys were parking there so I just parked out side on the footpath next to the shops. It was out of everyones way and when the bike was on it's side, the stand was still down and it fell on the side where the stand is, so someone would have had to lift the bike and plumet it over. Cunts!

Alright people-
A BIG BIG BIG THANKYOU to all of you who came last night. :grouphug: :grouphug:

it was really a big thing to feel i had your support-even though this film was completely (subject-wise) a bolt from the blue for all ze kiwi-biker moto head's!!

to put the film in context- experimental film like you saw last night is a completely fringe practice- with one-off screenings happening in film fests or art galleries because of their unusual storytelling methods- they hardly ever make it to general release. So it's a big deal you guys came along- SO KIWI BIKER is bigger than just bikes. my other short films mainly get screened in underground or alternative film festivals (USA, italy, france, the UK, korea, SA, japan, aussie, canada...) so that kind of slight confusion MR felt comes from the fact that the narrative practices are experimental. which is the fun of it for me... :devil2: :devil2: :devil2:

thanks again for coming out in the RAIN.
i was too tired to party...just wanted to snooze...snooze snooze

I caught up with the Doc last night and she asked me to pass on a few messages.

She's out of here for 3 months. Flys out via Amsterdam(n), on to Dublin then off "home" to Ireland.

She doesn't have Internet access where she's staying so will have to pop into the library to get online - this ain't going to bee too often but she'll try (in between surfing, film making and interviewing militant extremists... it's important to have a hobby don't you think?)

She also said another big thanks for the support over the last little while since she's been online.

Hi Alex (SC)
Saw C&V yesterday and enjoyed it, so well done. The way you covered the issues which I find beyond belief was great, summed up by the quote from whomever that it was obvious that neither side was going to win.

My daughter and son-in-law also came. He is a recent import from Newtownards (Belfast) and said that it is rare to find any coverage that does not pick one side.

Second and last showing is Monday some time (for the Chch crew).
