The telly has just told me SuperCheap has a 25% off sale this weekend. Any thoughts or experience on how ones of these stands would cope with a DR?

Thassa one.
Good thing the DR is only 150kg :)
I removed the locking collar from under the top which dropped it another 10mm.

I use one of these motorcycle/ATV jacks and find it really good for a mid priced unit, around the $280ish mark from memory. It is rated at 1500lb (680kg)

I bought one of those SCA ones a few years ago...I wouldn't again due to the height issues. I have to lift my DR onto it which probably defeats the purpose

I have a few bricks taken from the neighbours chimney that make a solid stand to lift the dr on to, christchurch riders only :shifty:

That would just about do my KLR (if you took the panniers off first)

Yep, they lift the DR, I used one on mine before I sold the DR. Now it is just sitting in the garage. Doesn't seem to be able to lift the harley!
The other lifter looks pretty awesome though, looks like it folds down virtually flat before lifting.

Any DR riderthat can't manhandle his bike onto a beer crate to do maintenance, should proceed directly to the nearest KLR/BMW agency, and buy a girlie bike.<_<

No beer crates here :(
Would a Evian crate do?

I have one of these..and got it at 50% off....First thing I did was modify it so it would slide under the bike(XT400/550)....as having to lift the bike onto a bike lift didn't make sense

Any other suggestions? Yep, I have one of these. It was too high but there are some stopper things in the top of the tubes that you can remove with a bit of effort and cut a slot in the tube so the tube can slide past the horizontal brace and Roberts yer mothers bro. Lifts KaTyM just fine.

They work well, I've had one for a few years now.
Cable-tie the safety catch on so that the toddler can't release it, dumping the bike on their head. DAMHIK.

I deeply resent having KLR's associated with BMW's
that's like pairing Bruce Springsteen with Abba

Could you make an insert to go on a big floor jack? Ive got a big floor jack that I had for my old racecar. Would be an easy lift!!

they are at "super cheap" for a reason pay a bit more for a proper hydralic one, its not a bit of kit u replace. Suggest the 4 wheel model that u can then move around with the bike on it. I got my one from the Tool shed 1 of the best buys I made,my bike sits on it in the shed

I'd go as far as saying it's the third best bit of gear in my shed, right after the estwing hammer and the beer fridge.

Nah thanks, if you're supposed to be the adult I'd hate to see what they're like.

Hey! I resemble that! Me and Keiran (3) spent the day in the garage working on his bikes yesterday. He knows what a ratchet is, how it works, how to reverse it, what a spanner does and how to use a phillips head screw driver as a tyre lever........
You'd do well with an apprentice that skilled.

With your history of crashing GSXR's I bet he's well practised ;)
Sounds like he's better than me. Maybe I should get him over.

Unfortunately he has wised-up to the trick of giving him a socket too big so he won't round off the nuts, and keeps trying to get the smaller size so it will engage. He has his own tool rack so he doesn't bugger mine; he might have to get his own bike to work on

Get Will to drop the DR250 around. Can't do any harm...
