Ok so this is not actually for a bucket, but I know sweet FA about two strokes, and all the experts are anyway, so it seems appropriate.

So to get tho the point my commuter has let me down and relegated me to riding round on a Chinese POS scooter. An Aprilia RS50 (registered as a scooter, no and no WOF needed) has come up for sale on trade me and I thought it might be a bit of fun, Anyone know anything about them? When would something like this normally need a rebuild (keeping in mind my commuting use) anything else to look for?

I take it you mean this one

I'd almost consider one as an F5 bike except for the not 17inch wheels. Personally think it's over priced and that the whole scooter rego thing might become a problem if you get hauled over and asked to prove that it makes 2 kW or less and explain how you were doing 65 when it is supposed to be limited to 50km/h.

There's a bloody tidy RS125 on there that may be a better bet.

Yes well I have been considering the 125 as an alternative...........

But yea that is the one. I wouldn't be paying list price it depends on how much I can get him down on the price

Dont wanna sound like a tosser, but if your gonna spend $2,500 on a 50cc bike then you might as well fork out for a bigger sized bike wither it be a 125 or 250. IMO..

Style-wise the April wins hands down. They run an AM5 engine which is popular in a million models across 1/2 doz different brands. Pity that model didn't have 17s but the next one did.

But lot of wowonga for such an old bike.

Shit I did not even realize that it didn't have 17's on it. The more thinking I do the more that particular bike seems like a bad idea.

Although the ESE 50 may be a goer..........

Don't worry Shane looking at options to get the Triumph fixed. This is more a replace the Chinese scoot that I am sure is going to break in half under my continued abuse any day now.

Keith nothing to major, just the stator craping out on a bike that is only 3 years old, after all your electrical charging problems with your Honda I am sure you can relate (but yours had done a few million km's so it was a little more expected)

242812242813242815

$2,500

RS50 ...... has 2.5x17F and 3.5x17R rims just right for RS125 slicks.

242814

$999

An SDR runner, F5Dave thinks they are rather heavy, but it might make an ok Bucket chassis or fun track day bike as is, anyway it looks good.

Yeah hard to think anything that looks that sweet would be anything other than a good bucket basis.
