Well, should have sold the FXR150 by the end of the week, realising ironically that I only got it last week.
However, can you blame me? A friend started up his GT250R and handed me his helmet. I was sold. Must get bigger bike...
Gutted that I thought I would be sensible and not buy the GS500F from a week or so ago.
The question is, knowing that I would like a bike of less than 600cc, what is the best sort to buy for $3,000?

And despite being a Suzuki rider .. I hear bad things about the GS500F in terms of reliability ... I thought about buying one as a commuter bike - glad I bought the GSF650N Bandit instead ..

+1 though you may have to go a bit higher than 2k. Then when you grow out of the 400cc goodness, a 650 engine will drop straight in

No idea really - but here's my two-cents worth. I bent the forks on a Honda running into a car (his fault) cost me around $600 to re-roll the fork tubes - and I installed them myself - the job's no biggie. The rest of the damage might cost more ... but at the Buy Now price, I'd expect to put it back on the road for all up $3,000. ('cept rego and warrant)

On the auction questions it says he replaced the forks, so not sure why you would want to as well?

I would definitely go for the Bros mate. Most reliable option out of all of them.
Looks like you have the ZZR400 in mind. Consequently I had a look at it last Saturday (hey, the price is right).
I havn't had the time to properly look at it (test ride and etc) but it looked like it had been in storage for quite some time (rust on front break disc, sticky clutch etc). The bike started alright with the choke, right lever bent due to the "earthquake" damage, new paint like described and etc...
But hey don't belive me, I'm no mechanic.

If I was looking I'd probably look at that Kwaka .. but anything under $3,000 is going to need work. So the option is buy something real cheap and spend time and money on getting it ready - or buy the best you can find under $3,000 and hopefully spend less money on it ...
