If you rock up wearing your favorite jacket, shirt or hoodie and it has a Logo or a brand on it thats easily visible, like a Adidas or CCC or a Holden or ford jacket chances are high you wont get in to the stadium or will have to remove it or turn it inside out, one of my boys has just done a induction course with armourgard to get a job as security and that is one of the things they have to be checking. If your clothing has a WRC sponsor like Heineken that is ok but Speights isnt.

Pity my wine shop isn't close to a stadium - I'd advertise every brand of beer EXCEPT Heinepiss. Fuck'em.

From the start RWC has said that logos are nogo. This same argument was had way back when they were talking about signage free stadiums. As far as I know, clothing displaying large logos are not permitted but pocket sized ones are ok. Gotta remember that the tournament sponsors are paying a bundle to display their logos. This is common practice overseas. The problem is that NZ has not been in this position before so it's all a learning curve for Joe Public.

Personally I don't believe that they can force someone to take their clothes off, though they may be able to refuse entry to the ground.

And I'll add a welcome to all the rugby haters who'll post in this thread bleating about national sports and funding blah blah blah.... :violin:

you wont get in, also pitch invaders cant be touched by the armourgard guys they have to shepherd the invader towards a corner and the 200 coppers will batten them into submission, i have visions of some streaker running about with a snake of followers like a benny hill skit

Hmmm. Does make me wonder. Steinlager seem to be skirting the limits of what they can get away with lately don't they. I bet Heinekin (franchised to DB in NZ) are spitting tacks over their full page newspaper and telly ads.

the all blacks jersey has a Adidas logo on it so i wonder if you will be allowed in wearing one

I think tickets can be had for the games in Nelson (or is it Blenheim) from low $30s so yeah.

Seriously?

Yup. One of the reasons we lost co-host rights with Australia when they held the tournament is that we couldn't guarantee 'clean-stadiums' and ensure that dairies etc in the immediate vicinity restricted their advertising.

I don't give a fuck how much the sponsors feel they might lose. However I can understand their fear if a section of the stadium were 'advertising flash-mobs'.

@insane

It's like some Orwellian plot hey. Nike now sponsors Queen Street. If you are caught wearing Reebok you will be arrested.

Let's hope it's to counter organised and concerted ambush marketing, not impinge on the fashion sense of Joe Bloggs.

Calm down people, take a look at the Guide to major events management document for the word cup.

It states;

Exemptions from the prohibition of advertising states; Page 18 & 20

"where advertising is on clothing or on another personel items being worn, carried or used by a member of the public.
This exemption does not apply if the advertising is worn, carried or used in co-ordination with other people with the intention of drawing attention to that advertising"

Just means you cant stand next to your mates if you all wearing the same 'unofficial' branded shirts etc :facepalm:

And you trust a temporary guard to know that? The guard will do what he has been taught to and if they have summarised that to be 'no alternative branded gear' then you can stand and argue the toss whilst the rest of the crowd go in. Enjoy the game.

Guess you'd need to lean that way. If you'd put it in quotation marks you could've blamed someone else for it.
