Howdy all,

If you haven't read my other thread yet, I'm organising a photo session with our own resident and talented photographer clmintie.

This will be a day out spending time at various chosen locations at the Sand Pit, trying to capture people at their best, laying the bike over in a sandy berm, grabbing airtime in the Superbowl, popping wheelies and general larking about. Depending on how many people are keen (got a few mates that are up for it so far), this will take part or most of the day, but hopefully we'll get time to go for a propper blat or two as well.

You will be able to purchase prints of the photos off clmintie directly, i.e. 6x4, 5x7 and A4 prints at $6.50/$8.50/$22.00 +p&p respectively. Or grab a CD off him and have posters made up (he has mentioned Workshop Graphics could help here).

His rate is very reasonable, so if we get a good uptake, then it won't cost much for the day per person, I'll confirm once I get an idea of interest and numbers.

clmintie's free weekends at the moment are 6/7 August or 20/21 August, but the more people interested, the more difficult it will be to pick a day to suit all, so this may need to change if there is enough reason to.

If you are interested, chuck a message in here or PM me, let me know which dates suit and I'll keep you in the loop.

:2thumbsup

Coolio! Although this is only 2 people (one other via pm) so far...

C'mon, here's your chance to get some snaps of you looking like a pro, which you can impress other halves, mates, your kids etc with... plus get a good ride in and meet a few fellow KB'ers!

You know you want to

Just imagine logging onto your laptop at work and there is the background set as a pic of you, bike cranked over, sand flying off the rear tyre, railing that berm like the next Josh Coppins... the hot office lady/guy walks past and sees it...

"Wow, that's a cool pic, who's that?".

"Oh that? That's just me, I like to do a bit of riding now and then... "

Anyways, I've got 6 people interested so far, so this will not be an spendy exercise. For less than the price of something more expensive, you can impress all your mates and the ladies (or blokes if you're already a lady) and have some photos to cherish and pass down to family... ("Grandad/Grandma, is that you? You were cool back then!").

You know you want to join in...

Pop and I could probably be talked into it, as long as it doesnt clash with anything else, Sunday would suit us better.

Schweet, looking like a reasonable turnout at the moment

Right, dates...

General concensus with mates off forum is 6th/7th is a go, although I'm happy to accommodate anyone who is really keen but can't make that weekend.

I was planning to hit Mercer on the 6th, but for the greater good of the people, I'll just do that in Sept instead.

21st is no good for clmintie (can do 20th) or 10th/11th of Sept... but that is starting to drag it out and people will start losing interest.

So, 6th/7th all good? We have one preference for a Sunday, so will aim for that, unless anyone is a def no and wants a Saturday?

Sunday 7th is good for me.

Sunday the 7th it is then!

So lots of love for Sunday the 7th, so all go on that front. Will organise a start time with clmintie, but I'm thinking be in the car park for 10am and we'll take if from there.

With the interest we have at the moment, we're looking at $25pp for the photo session, which will cover clminties costs and is very reasonable for a day with a photographer with his ability and gear. If there are a few no shows, I'll cover any shortfall myself, so you won't be asked for more on the day.

There will be a reasonable amount of structure for the day, probably a bit of waiting around plenty of direction from clmintie, but depending on how long it takes, there should be time for a couple of loops. Should also be a good chance to meet a few people and gain some more riding buddies.

Will be great fun!

My first introduction to Phil was very similar to the above. I haven't been on my bike in 2 months but have lost 14kg recently so hopefully can bust out so half way decent action shots.

He was indeed, out there running in bikes but scoping out some locations for us as well (there's dedication for you ).

Going to be an awesome day I reckon, not too late to sign up, or just turn up on the day and say hello.

Bumpsicles... this is on Sunday, don't forget!

As mentioned previously, we're aiming to be in the carpark for 10am, keep an eye out for a 'chunky' bearded bloke with a tatty white Mazda B2000 ute, black and white Thor pants/jersey and the Kato. My human name is Jason, so just come say hi when you arrive. We will give it 1/2 an hour or so for people to turn up and then head out for some action shots.

Phil/clmintie has a fair amount of expensive gear to lug around, so we'll be riding slowly to each location, but I'm sure there'll be plenty of time to dick about after we've spent some time looking good for the camera.

I'll PM everyone that has said yes to it so far with my number, in case you need to call or text, if you're keen and haven't posted up a yes yet, just let me know and I'll bung a PM to you. The day can go ahead in all but the worst weather, if it's a complete wash-out, I'll also post up on here to let everyone know (so probably a good idea to log in before you head out, if it's looking dodgy).

See yous on Sunday

Bumpy bumpy...

So who's still in? Had a couple of "sorry can't make it now" pm's, which is all cool, but if you are intending to be there, flick a yay on here or via PM so I know to expect you and don't sod off into the depths of Woodhill forest without you...

RJM

I'll be there, what was the final 'donation' for Phils time / resources?

Jay GTI
5th August 2011, 08:08
Cool

For you Sir, the fee is $25 for Phil's time... which is eminently reasonable and I'm quite surprised I haven't had more interest from here as a result.

At the moment there'll be five of use riders and Phil doing the lens work, so a nice small group, but plenty of space for people to jump in last minute (even if people joined us for an hour and then went off and did their own thing, $25 is very good value for a guy with Phil's skills and gear).

My PMs seem to be having issues, so my number is 0226 527076, if there are any problems or you want more detail, feel free to call or text.

Roll on Sunday!

RJM

Very reasonable indeed for his time / resources.

Weather looks like showers which is perfect for Woodhill.

Jay GTI
5th August 2011, 11:19
Weather should indeed be awesome! Sand will be nicely packed down and firm, plenty of puddles to play in, hopefully a few patches of blue sky now and then for the open areas...

Looking forward to it

Ill be heading out there Sunday with a couple of mates, not sure if Ill be part of the Photo shoot, as I know my mates will want to do other things, and I haven't been on the bike since the last round of the Mr Motorcycles maize paddock MX, so be well and truly out of shape, not that I was ever in shape lol.

Will say hi if I see yah.

I'll be the one with a box of tissues... Man flu has kicked in just in time for the weekend. Determined to be there though.

Jay GTI
6th August 2011, 11:31
Bugger, I hate riding when I've got man flu! At least we'll be primarily dicking about for the camera, instead of trying to be fast or anything physically taxing like that...

Guys, I'm so sorry, but I've been flattened by the dreaded lurgy. Been in bed for the last two days willing myself to get well, but I have no voice/worst headache ever/mucus for Africa/dizzy etc. No way I can safely get to Woodhill tomorrow. I'll make it up to all with a FREE shoot asap. Back to bed...... SORRY!

Jay GTI
6th August 2011, 13:12
Ah bugger... no worries though, my missus has had the same virus that's going around last couple of weeks and she was in a right state, completely understand that you'd not want to try and make the journey, let alone be out in the rain and cold forecast for Woodhill tomorrow.

I'm still keen on going out though, so same as before, if anyone is at the carpark at 10, come say hello and join in on a ride or several.

That's a bugger Phil but lucky for me. I'll spend the day on the couch too. Still keen to tee it up for another time.

Dam. will miss this as we are still in Westport! long way to the sandpit:facepalm:
Have a great time all of you and I hope to see some decent pics posted.
For all those who remember still going strong down here just got the RM85 going again - complete engine and gearbox rebuild! (don't ask the cost)

The beach is a bit like the sandpit without the trees but we don't get pinged by the cops down here on the west coast - cos' nobody cares.

So A&R what's the riding like in Westport? U go to nine mile beach a lot?
Wesport is a place I'd like to retire to as got a few relations down there eg 1/4 off the cemetery.
