View Full Version : Wire jumper anyone?

Hi Guys, Doesnt anyone have an idea where i could source a Wire Jumper or Possibly a spade connector?
ive already looked at dicksmiths and Jaycar, neither which have any. The Wire jumper is for a jumper mod for my zx6r, ive attached a couple of photos for reference, the first showing a picture of a wire jumper and the second the 4 pin connector in which it will go in.
thanks in advance!

single core wire with some insulation left or a long wire looped its not gonna matter what you use take a jumper of a old hdd

Paper clip will be fine, assuming there is not be anything else plugged into the socket after you have jumpered it.

Really? a paperclip sounds rather dodgy... hmmm i have lots of electrical wire i could use? ill give that a go

A bit of wire worked a treat. if anyone is interested in doing the jumper mod for there zx6r (2005-06) hit me up and ill give you a hand :)

fuckwit of the week here.
paper clips are round socket accepts flat pin they are carefully designed to ensure correct current can flow etc also does this clown know the consequences if said paperclip falls out at pace? like engine dies etc and spits ya on the road....
.
try and get a male plug of the same style and blank it off that way or pirate the same type of terminals out of an old wiring loom.
if you pm me a photo i have a few wiring looms here to butcher for that very reason

 Before you start calling people names, jump on Kawiforums etc and check out how many people have square sections of metal paper clips for their jumpers and have no problems at all.

Dumb question. What does this jump do? I've heard of it but never bothered to look. I can only assume it's an ignition advancer that gets rid of the drive by and emissions restrictions.

Yeah, removes electronic restrictions yielding 8-10 more horses at the top

So it's probly a few mA signal wire? with little change even if it falls out? Jammy a bit of wire/paperclip in there and tape it up I reckon.

Yeah, that's what a number of people have done. Paper clip, then some electrical tape over top, then the plastic connector cover back over the top to prevent water ingress

So you'd be looking at 115-120ish at the wheel?

Supposedly. Maybe more with the 05-06 with the 636cc motor

That's a lot for a 600/636. I'd be lucky to get 90hp at the wheel on mine.

My understanding is that the difference between the USA spec bike and the Euro spec bike is that the Euro bike already has the jumper as stock. Thus if someone has an 05-08 ZX6R without a jumper, it's an easy mod. I'm happy to be told otherwise though :scooter:

Correct. Or you could just remove/disable the exhaust servo/butterfly valve (if you have an '09+).

maybe they have square sections, but it ain't mentioned here, nor is the mod's purpose or current requirement.
Maybe a paperclip will work but with the information provided, and the information given there's simply not enough to ensure it's the correct way.
I'm an electrician with over 32 years in the trade and as it's worded without any in depth query of the what exactly is required it's still the advice of a FUCKWIT that in some instances could be dangerous.
Bear in mind too that I did offer a solution too.

Chillax dude, maybe the dude who gave the advice did know it's purpose and current requirement.

I gave the advice with the assumption that:
It jumper was to remove the ignition retard in the first few gears, therefore doesn't need to carry sfa current
OP would use a suitably bent clip that fits securely in the socket.
No need to get hysterical

Chillax yeah right.
Tell that to a friend whose son is fucked cause he used a paperclip to bypass his light switch as he got tickets for riding with the new law lights on all the time.
paperclip came out at night leading to a nasty nasty crash, same sort of Advice from some FUCKWIT

You know that thing about assumptions?
I have many years working in the electrical/electronics arena.
I have a DipESE (electronic and Software Engineering), National Cert in Electronic Engineering, a lapsed A and B Electrical Techinicians certificate.
Part of my work with the same employer for the last 13 years has involved plenty of electrical work.

Not to mention my own bikes and cars.

For this case, paperclip still works fine.

And paperclips are still heaps better than those freezer twisty tie things. I did some rewiring with those once on a little RC car, it caught fire, it was awesome :D :corn:

Yeah my bike before had was pushing 115 on a dyno (real road results would be different though) and now with a PC, Exhaust, jumper MOD and K&N filter i should be pumping at least 120 hopefully. ill get a dyno asap and let everyone know :)

unfortunately All NZ new Kawasaki's get put through their paces and tests in Canada. Therfore North American Specs (US+CA+ Canada) are what we get :( however Australia get the Euro model! :(

Sorry man not in your dreams. Need a full header pipe to do anything for power. Slip on is only for noise, the restriction is in the header pipe. 120 is what national spec NZSBK 600s are pushing that's with cams, full exhaust with header, head gasket, computer and more. Check out kawi forums most guys with stock bikes have 107 tested, it's still a few more than the rest of the 600 though! Only few guys with heaps of work are able to push 120.

Ok... just so everyone knows, I Used a connector from a IDE Powersupply Lead (male end). worked a charm, was secure and well insulated.
If im doing something to my Baby, ill do it right, not saying a paperclip is wrong, im just super careful.

107.1PS
nice curve, good usable power, im quite happy! Also was told their Dyno is quite conservative so could possibly have pushed out more, (chucked a Busa on that pulled 213HP on another Dyno but only 180HP on theirs).
Would love to see the results if the RAM AIR was being used.
Ill chuck up the video and dyno printout when i can.
