Not often you get something for free... but I'm looking at taking on some clients on a pro bono basis. Thought this might be a good place to put some feelers out.

What do I get out of it? I have spent the last 6 months or so developing a Content Management (CMS) which is basically a framework for quick deployment of websites. It all looks very promising so now I'm stepping up a gear and starting to advertise etc. However before I do so, I need to be able to show commercial clients that it works! So I thought the best way to do that, rather than build 'demo' sites is to offer my services to organisations which might not otherwise be able to afford to build a website.

What do you get out of it? Given enough time, I can build pretty much anything you need. My background is in analysing and developing software based around complex workflows, so I am used to the process and techniques involved. That said, a simple web-presence site is no problem either. And it's FREE!

The catch: Your organisation must be NON-PROFIT; schools, clubs, charities etc are fine. Individual sites (e.g. sports people) will also be considered (especially bikers lol). This is for the benefit of those organisations who can't necessarily afford it - if you want a business site developing would be more than happy to talk, but it would be on a cost basis.

I won't go into more detail here, if you've read this far and are still interested let's have a chat. Email me (address below) with your phone number if you like and I'll get in touch.

Feel free to pass this on to any friends/colleagues/enemies who might be interested.

Email is: web@cbwd.co.nz

Trouble is Google and Facebook have all-but killed the business.
Clients can get a viable DIY CMS for free.

BD's right. We stay the hell away from 'standard' websites now, customers expect too much customisation for too little money, hell, we didn't even do our own website! Our focus is market specific web apps on a licenced basis. (You just have to find the right market!)

BY & yod, some valid points but not a discussion I want to get into here (although Yod I would be interested to know what sort of apps you're dealing with if you'd not mind PMing me, just out of interest. Understand if you'd rather not).

Cool. Just be cautious on investments.

Having no money to invest helps ;) But seriously I hear what you're saying. Time is the biggest investment here, but even if it goes tits up I've still learnt a lot that I can apply to other areas, I see it more as a learning exercise at the moment than having a concrete plan. Will see where things go from here. Cheers

Yeah - I find dicking around with css mildly therapeutic too. :-)

When it works it's good fun, but I generally struggle with the aesthetic stuff, definitely more of a developer than a designer!
