Riding a Hornet 900 naked it tends to become a bit chilly at this time of year - I usually wear a polar fleece neck donut but this was not cutting the mustard.

Enter the Oxford ChillOut range - in this case the turtle neck. What you see in the picture is what you buy - no it is not me modeling (I'm much better looking!).

This interesting looking piece of motorcycle gear cost me $45 from Budget Motorcycles in Christchurch.

It is made of some spiffy material that: 'creates a wind-proof barrier which is also water repellent" (I have not tested the water bit). Apparently it has "the very best laminated neoprene materials to insulate against extremely cold conditions".

So what does it do? This afternoon it kept me warm at speeds that shall not be mentioned on a public forum on a day struggling to reach a high of 13 degrees. Wind chill was significant - one of you will work the figure out!

I particularly like the large lower panel that insulates my upper chest and shoulders as they do get a good blast of air on my naked bike despite wearing multi thermals and leathers. So with the turtle neck tucked in under my jacket I find my neck is breeze free.

Highly recommended, if you are feeling the chill in this area buy one.

I have one. Works well. Can be a bit of a pain to fit properly when you put the helmet on.

on a day struggling to reach a high of 13 degrees.
So what's it like when it gets cold ? Minus three this morning and my old Jamie Whitham neck warmer is in need of replacement.
