I have never quite liked the rear fender on the RF. Infact like me the whole rear end on these bikes is on the large side. In an effort to slightly improve the look and "modernise" it a little I modded the rear end. I had looked at using an after market no fender kit but I couldn't use the Ventura rack to carry the six pack's around.
In the end I trimmed the existing fender down by about 150 mm, removed the numberplate bracket and re-secured the number plate direct to the fender (it has a nice raised section to attach to). The reflector I relocated further up and mounted the bracket to the other side of the fender so that it didn't stick out too far.
At least with this method I don't need the no indicator stalks mod.
Now I just need to even the trimming up a bit which can't be noticed from normal viewing angles anyway and fill the old number plate holes.

I might even go just a bit further and look at fitting a hugger.

I should have taken a before and after shot but in the second photo you can see the cutoff section lying on the bench.

Yes your bum still does look fat - goes with the territory.

My packrack frame had larger straps & I moved the indicators onto them so paniers wouldn't get forced forward into pillions legs. Also I moved the pillions pegs down an inch with simple bolt on plates (but had to section the pipe to do it). Made the pillion comfort so much better. Underrated bike they say, but flawed by so many silly attn to detail mistakes. 71 deg thermostat is another & the most obvious is the silly angled bars that place pressure on your wrists unless you ride with your elbows touching.

Very undersprung, miserable headlight, crude front suspension.
