Last thursday, the day before the big R test, I cleaned my bike and checked over everything to make sure it was all working. There was not a thing to find wrong with old Hellzie the Hornet. I went to sleep that night hoping it would stop pouring with rain... it didn't....

When I woke up it was still pouring with rain and blowing a gale, no matter, I'll put on my wet weather gear and head off to do my test. One last check of the blinkers - tick, brake lights - tick, horn........ silence... not cool, it worked the day before, what happened????? Gave the horn a little nudge, and it worked! Right, maybe it either got bumped or doesn't like the rain... hope it works when it needs to!!!

Got to the carpark of the testing station and checked the horn before I went in... wasn't working again, so I nudged it till it worked then left it, hoping for the best. Luckily, when the testing guy got me to check it, it worked. Thank you Hellzie you awesome awesome bike!

The test itself was a lot easier than I expected and I didn't get nervous at all, I was too busy concentrating and being glad that my horn worked when it needed to... must get that checked out properly...

Riding around since removing the L-plate feels different... not quite sure how to explain it other than different... a bit more confidence maybe? But not too much... I'm still learning, I'll be wearing an L-plate in my mind forever me thinks.

So happy, I can't wait to do my full test :woohoo:

I grin everytime I get within a meter of my bike, and can't help but give her a little pat and maybe even a word or two.... Yes.. I talk to my bike!!! :psst:

Congratulations there. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Ride safe, forever.

Get that horn fixed and don't be afraid to use it. Can stop people pulling out in front of you.

Great job! It's quite a feeling when the L plate goes, but I do understand what you mean about being stuck with the L plate in your head! Wasn't until I rode a bigger bike that I lost that feeling!

It sure is a great feeling, and I certainly can't wait to be done with my full test! :woohoo::woohoo::done:

Have been checking the horn every time before going out, and it seems to be working fine, maybe it was the bike gods telling me to not be overconfident on the day of the test? who knows! Will get it properly checked out though... definitely want it to work when some noob cager is pulling out in front of me.:Oi:

Hay Hellzie :D

Sadly Not, still got PhatGirl sitting in the garage (covered in mud & grass from the "off road" bit of my incident with the 4x4), as my left arm is still healing (allowed out of my sling end of this week :woohoo:)
...really missing the daily ride into work to be honest, but I won't be able to ride again for another couple of weeks (and thats pushing it!)
But still feeling lucky for not dropping her  and have bought some really good polish etc for her "reward" clean this weekend
Thanks again for the kind words at the time....the support from KB members was amazing!

Hehehe i wish. We can only insure one rider per bike for the track day... So not this time. I am torn between taking the triple out now vs relaxing and concentrating on kicking this crappy head cold before Sunday.

Nah not hard, but the testing officer was a douchebag. The test seems to be more about making sure you know the road code than your ability to ride well. Making sure you're fully stopped at stop signs, indicating properly at roundabouts, etc etc. Which is bollox for those of us who have full car licence and have been driving for years and obviously have already proven they know the road code..

Test is too easy and definitely doesn't qualify you for all the hazard and road conditions you need to be able to negotiate... But hey, I guess it's up to each individual to make sure they get the traini they think they need.

I understand they're about to swap the full the restricted tests so the restricted will be the 'harder' one with hazard identification. This, however, is only until October when a new licencing testing system will be introduced. As you say, the current one is useless and hopefully the new one will be at least a little more skills focused.
