Arrive in a car - you have Pressies.

Arrive on a bike...you want food.

This is my take on it as a Male with a similar situation several years ago...old people and their Marbles.

Forgive my slowness..
I have grand daughters that come to greet me when I visit them but then don't recognise me in all my leathers and on a motorbike, so they are hestitant to come and give me a big hug.
But if I arrive in the car, all is recognisable and they will run out to do the big welcome.

Its surprising that you find that surprising!!

Do the bike thing more often and they will get used to it quicker.
Im not a Nana yet, in my house tho it's the cats who freak and hide when Im creaking around in my riding gear.

It was the same with my dog - she was so scared of the noise and the helmets - now that she is used to it, she is fine. Not saying the kiddies are dogs, but you know what I mean :niceone: You will have to practice, and they will eventually lose the fear.

Am not surprised they go through stages when little not that am going to are little one on motorbike anyway ,no way chould take a 19 month old to young to understand be terrified he loves the car though esp bends i mean corners
the full face whould be scary all inclosed it took me while when switched from open face to full face
you cant hear as well and that bit off putting for start hehe oh but mine on in lounge when tv on so cant hear the wife hehe
am going through stage myself only last 48 years am bit daft. and silly my mother hoping i grow out of it
I think why she prays so much. (least keep me safe so far)
freddy the cat hates going to the vet in the car ,his dad did too no amount practice going change that they have little accidents on the way and drove slowly talked to them as well , in cages of course as card boxs they can get heads paws through them give nasty scratch ,i was going say something silly but wont affend are lady bikers

seriously they are nosiey than cars in general for start and smaller so makes look faster animlas have trouble seeing anyway well objects ecept in the dark the xr 200 scared freddy something wicked just well i took to pieces
and never got around to reversing the process .and the crankcase is 5lm away in biz he in pammy must get that back too
only been 12 months , frame is at aother biz 2 months and engine under the bench and crank shaft is missing somewhere

i think freddy secretly happy about this as sleep 90 % the day, as it is,he steals my counch in my man lounge ,,, yes he is on it know
athough he will move when i want lye on so i cant ....and to have stretch cause dam hard work sleeping that much.

My son crys when pick up the sony playstaion controller cause doesint want dad playing the games so all in all
i think oh yeah and when on the pc he wants to take over the keyboard and throws the mouse on the floor.

then the cats have go at my mouse oh the greif i think better get bike working to escape
Am in the man lounge studdying on computer doing my phd on kiwibiker not looking at porn and being generlally well behaved

Nah. Exactly the opposite. When the grandkids were very young they thought that all motorbikes might be their Nan or Grandad.

My grandkids (3 + 1mth old and another one due10th jan) just love the bikes. I took my eldest for a ride when she was 18mths old. Every time I turn up on the bike they are scrambling to get on. Even the three year old loves bikes. We have race quads as well and the kids love those even more.

My eldest (10) is learning to ride the farm trike now. She can also ride a pocketbike and they have a mini dirt bike as well. 3 yr old trys anything. The middle boy is not too fussed on the two wheeled bikes, but thats ok, he loves the quads.

Turn up with a helmet that they can play on pedal bikes with. Thats a good start.

Family appear to have become used to it - but I notice the occassional passer by looks slightly apprehensive when I remove my helmet. Must be just the helmet hair . . .
