Hey mate.
Welcome to Welly. There are a few places to ride, the most common one is at Karapoti. Its located in Upper hutt of the Akatarawa Road. There is also the Maungutoks which are accessed from the Kapiti Coast. Both run through the same area but enter on oposite ends of the park. You need to be careful in here as it is two way traffic and can get pretty busy on weekends. Long gully is a local dry weather MX track and they also have trial areas. This is located up Brooklyn Hill (Where the wind turbine is above Wellington). Its a good area but prone to high winds and also only open during fine weather. Apart from this there are local MX clubs like Kapi Mana who hold meetings every third Sunday of the month. Finally alot of local clubs also hold various Trial Rides which can be found at the Silverbullet web site under events. Some of these can be really good. Im always up for a ride when able so flip me a PM with your details and your welcome to join in.

Yea man as mentioned above, Karapoti will give you a fair bit of riding to settle you for a while, best go up with somebody who knows the tracks etc
If you can get up during the week, even better as the traffic is cut down to just a few bikes, Ive only been out twice, first was a thursday arvo, the other was under spotlight at night, came out at about 1am.
Its not for the faint hearted tho, especially in rainy weather. We had a bike die and I had to ride back to carpark and take the Van battery back in, and the river was rising 100mm each time, ended up at my tank, which was interesting, esp with a 12kg battery on my back.
I currently got no job, so able to ride weekends again, hit me up PM and we can organise a meet up somewhere.

Will be a bunch of us up at Long Gully tomorrow morning.
Long Gully isn't just the MX track by any means, there are tons of cool tracks you can sift around, wet OR dry. Just have to know where to go!
We live in Brooklyn so we often ride up from home and can sift our way through the best part of a day just checking out different tracks.
We have a FB group with a fairly big group of us who ride and socialise frequently, so PM me if you want an invite :-)
