Need your help deciding on an app to make for the new HP tablet.

I have never used a tablet so i have no idea what would be considered useful.

Anyone use a tablet and think they could do with an app that isn't already around?

I've just picked up a Galaxy Tab. A friend told me of some form of javascript HTML5 sdk that would allow you to develop web apps for both (apple and android, and any windows devices that appear too). I'll ask him what it was called tomorrow. When I get some time I hope to start dickin around the thing.

Damnit. Its hard to think of original ideas when they already exist on the internet.

(Edit) If you need test subjects, I have a tm2 and am willing to help.

How about an app that just records how much more productive you'd be if you were using a laptop?

They're called Sencha (http://www.sencha.com/). I've not had a read of their site yet, but it looks promising... then there is jquerymobile (http://jquerymobile.com/)... but I may wait for MVC 4, as it's supposed to be all singing all dancing for mobile apps...

You are going to find the future a strange and difficult place.

Do any of these tablets come with CIR? (Consumer Infra Red)?

If not, maybe pair up with a hardwary sort of person to make a bluetooth or wifi based repeater that emits infrared.

Basically so the tablet can be a remote for your T.V. and Sky and stuff.

I know my Wife uses her netbook mostly on the couch in front of the T.V. - and keeps losing the remotes...

(I bet this exists, already...)

Yep. iPods and iPhones (and presumably iPads) have devices that either plug into the earphone jack or the bottom connector that allow the iProducts to act as Universal Remotes when used with the correct app
