For the first time since 1994 the GP is back at Laguna Seca. Watch out for it on Prime.

Just to whet your appetite the Yanks have been putting a few old pics up:

Your bike would look fucken cool in Pepsi or Lucky Strike colours, provided it was done properly. Stay away from the late 80s, early 90s leathers though.

I understand all the Yamahas will be decked out in the old yellow and black Kenny Roberts (Snr) paintjobs, from the real old days.

The Suzukis in their Red Bull livery look bloody cool too. Interesting that the 125s and 250s aren't racing, just the big buggers.

Edit: What an idiot. Just realised it's in California.

Anybody know why the 125 and 250 not there?
Possibly they don't meet the Californian emision test...?

I like the aus mcn comment. The old 500cc bikes used to get light over the crest [turn 1] and it is expected the faster 4 strokes should 'aviate' over the corner.

I'm waiting for someone to do an akira yanagawa :)

Apparently it's being run in conjunction with an AMA round, and there's not enough time to include the 125's and 250's.

Didn't they just recently change the rules to allow this?

It's pretty lame if you ask me. Even though I don't watch the 125's or 250's (only got so much time to watch tv) it seems unfair that the guys on the smaller bikes won't get a chance to race there.

The 125 and 250's are way better to watch IMO, they corner faster, and the racing is tighter - no Rossi out in front :devil2:

They might as well look cool, cause the slugs will be stationary in the garages for most of the weekend

Its been said somewhere on here, its because they can't fit them into the schedule with all the other classes. Its the same when the superbikes go over there, the 600's stay at home.

Pretty sure the 2 strokes are allowed to race in the states. Know of plenty of guys riding 125's in the states anyway.

Thanks.
What a load of BS!!! Do the Americans have their own time system as well? Every other track can fit it in, why not now!?!!
If they dumped the cart race that would make some room

And you can see FP3 here (http://www.motogp.com/en/motogp/results/results_2764.htm?event_id=2764&subevent_id=5027&result=35610)

Hopper looking good for a front row start! I couldn't see him in the sheets for a minute, was looking down around 7th/8th. That bald MarkNZ fellah's gonna be eating his words! It seems the yanks and ex Superbike guys may have the upper hand with circuit knowledge here. It'd be fantastic to see a total underdog standing on that top step for once.

Go Hopper!

Edit: Interestingly, if you look at the top speeds, they're all around 250kph, which aint very fast. Also, Capirossis Ducati, which is normally the highest top speed at any given track, is this weekend almost the slowest. One of the Blata WCMs matchs him at 238kph.

Mat Mladin (http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=23388) would've qualified 11th in the GP field on his AMA Superbike. Fark that boys a star.

After Fridays practice session, he had said he was happy with the safety improvements at Laguna as well.

Shes a tight and twisty track alright, but if the SBK boys can ride it, the the GP guys shouldnt have too much to bitch about - although another 50hp does make things.....interesting.

White trash
10th July 2005, 09:04
Totaly aggree. Although, I think chuck Mladin the keys to a GSVR and he'd definitely have the skill to perform. Another 50hp and around 30 kg less, would certainly sort the men from the boys.

Rossi and Edwards up to 5 & 6 in session three.
