That too. Just watched a video on Letterman from 2007 and she was utterly off her face, only just catching the correct phrasing and lyrics. Was still better than Gaga. The song was "Rehab".
She just joined the "27 Club" too. Spooky.

Either way and accepting she was a major fuck up with abusive relationships and substances lets not forget that she was also a major talent. Fuck all people actually change the music like she did. People like Adele etc sort of built on what she did but Amy did it first. I never got her at all until I brought Back to Black and really listened to it... At her best she was stunning.....

She doesn't have the class of a motorcycle racer of any degree.

that and one decent record album. She could sing a bit, she wrote a couple of good songs. And if it turns out to be drugs that killed her (I think I am right in saying that it hasnt been confirmed) then RIP.
However, if you liked the Amy Winehouse record, a lot of that would have been because she was backed by a KILLER band called the Dap Kings. Get the Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings record, its great. Sharon Jones is the real deal. Like a hundred times more talented than Amy W. Just saying.

Simply because she came unstuck on addictive substances, I don't think means she was classless. Just lost.

She was a manic depressive, alcoholic, drub addict living in a culture which encouraged such things. I'm not saying she's not responsible for her own destiny but if you understand the nature of addiction and also know what the UK media is like, you may have more sympathy for this train wreck of a tragedy. Like it or not her music was liked by many worldwide, so she will definitely be leaving her mark on the world, if not a tarnished one by her private life.

Amy doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as people who have made a real contribution to music.
The only one in that list in her league is Kurt Cobain.

I didn't say she achieved greatness, it's a very narrow minded view you have taken, that she was only famous for being addicted to drugs and as a result of her addiction we are better off without her. It erodes your argument if you approach it in such a blinkered manner. A person with flaws is only one part of the whole person, she did achieve in her chosen vocation and could have done bigger better things. It is really regretful that things went the way they did for her and nothing wrong with people appreciating her for what she did well.

Wether she passed away from being hit by a bus, a disease, or any million possibilities, isn't how the name Amy W will be remembered by myself.
It will be her vocal talent, and her incrediable natural talent to flow with music in her own way.

Ahh. The jokes have started flying...
News of Amy Winehouse's death travelled with such speed. When I heard I couldn't help but crack up with emotion. She was a real heroin. It's such a blow. She really made a hash of things though. Her life just went to pot. Someone should have kept tabs on her.
Elton John will perform at Amy Winehouse's funeral with a beautiful rendition of Candle Under The Spoon.
Amy Winehouse found slightly more dead today than yesterday.
SHOCK NEWS !! Amy Winehouse is still alive, forensics went to draw a line around her body and she sprung up and tried to snort it.
Just heard about the death of one of the biggest stars of our time.
We all knew they had it coming with the pale white skin and slits for a nose, they'll be greatly missed.
RIP Voldemort...
So, Amy Winehouse is dead. To be honest, we all saw it coming.
But Rupert Murdoch knew about it two months ago.

lets just get something straight: being able to speak your mind is your right. It doesnt however give you the right to be a cockhead. Well it does, but it also gives people the right to call you on it. And rejoicing in the death of a troubled, talented young girl is acting like a complete cockhead. I'd go a step further than CFWB who said something about hoping your children dont end up like that. I hope you don't manage to impregnate some unsuspecting wench with your horrible dysfunctional seed.

Has anyone posted Russell Brand's tribute/open letter/eulogy/treatise about addiction yet. Its worth reading.
Ok, so what do you expect people to take from that?
Addicts are generally treated like criminals for their criminal actions, until then there lifestyle goes largely unnoticed. if they are avoided or degraded for their mental state then so be it, Its not a healthy way to be.Actions have consequences.
I can go along with addiction being a disease, But its an entirely self-inflicted one, thats the path they chose with full knowledge of the likely outcome, The consequences are theres to pay in the first instance (so pay them and stfu), and then their families and societies at large.
There is treatment and support offered available for addicts at every level of there journey, and like that initial decision to be a user the direction they take is in their hands and only in their hands, wherever they are, they are to blame...no matter what medical terms anyone wants to hang on their situation.

Been there ..
Somehow I doubt it, a parent has a huge influence (the biggest) on a child and how their outlook is shaped.
Hence the junkie parents with junkie children.
Anyone who thinks upbringing and education have no use on a persons attitude towards drug use is a deluded fool.
And yes, I too did not come from addict parents ... had a good education . etc etc ... ended up an addicted 1%er ... got out ...
Your personal situation doesn't prove anything wrong, It just means despite the efforts of wiser people you still went down the hole. Don't be deluded into thinking your failures can be white washed over everybody else.
Well, now there's two of us ..
Ok, so what do you expect people to take from that?
Addicts are generally treated like criminals for their criminal actions, until then there lifestyle goes largely unnoticed. if they are avoided or degraded for their mental state then so be it, Its not a healthy way to be.Actions have consequences.
Not that simple - that's why it's called ADDICTION ...
I can go along with addiction being a disease, But its an entirely self-inflicted one, thats the path they chose with full knowledge of the likely outcome, The consequences are theres to pay in the first instance (so pay them and stfu), and then their families and societies at large.
Not that simple ... you have no understanding of addiction at all ..
There is treatment and support offered available for addicts at every level of there journey, and like that initial decision to be a user the direction they take is in their hands and only in their hands, wherever they are, they are to blame...no matter what medical terms anyone wants to hang on their situation.
Only 10% of addicts ever recover ... that's the accepted level of success in all treatment programmes ... If any other medical intervention had a 10% success rate it would be regarded as a failure ...
You simply have no understanding of addictions ... Do you smoke?

What have Amy Winehouse and Michael Jackson got in common?
They both had a 10 year old crack addiction.

Apparently she was trying to sniff some crack....
Michael Jackson anounced his tour, and died soon after.
Amy Winehouse anounced her tour, and died soon after.
I can't wait for Justin Bieber to anounce his tour!
Two detectives are in Amy Winehouse's flat. One says to the other "I've never heard of her, what was she famous for?"
The other copper replies "She was a very well known musician."
The first detective looks around and says, "Ah, I see now. Let me guess, she played the spoons?"

Just because the decisions that some people make are the shit ones doesn't mean your controlled by a disease,Its a self-inflicted condition, it means you made a decision and have to pay the price.
So, again, Junkies need to stop making excuses for the weakness and pay the price for their actions and the decisions they are yet to make, be it right now or for the week, year, decade.
