After a small break of just under a year, I have bought a bike again.

I had to sell my 1987 GPX 250R down in Dunedin before my rellocation up here to the Naki!
(After getting my full licence firstt!)

But instead of going out and buying the biggest bike I could afford, I went for another 250 but something a bit different. I frankly figured that my skills were good but still not at a level that I could trust myself with something too big just yet.

In my search I wanted
a) A naked bike ( looks and coolness factor )
b) A honda ( reliability plus )
c) a 4 cylinder or v-twin ( different power delivery)
d) something with reasonable fuel economy for commuting
e) plus something that had a great rep ( thanks Kiwibiker search function! )

I tend to like to get involved with my bikes, do oil changes, coolent changes and brake pads, but I still leave trickier operations upto the professionals.

So I bought a 93 Honda Jade last weekend =)
here she is
I've only done a ten minute test ride and rode her home (25ish km), but love it heaps already, a very different ride from my GPX.

I have to get out this weekend and give her a really good clean, then look at organising the fork seal that she needs to be in a warrantable state.

Does anybody know a good resource for these bikes? I found some resources around the CB250 as I think this covers the frame/tyres etc.. And I think the CBR 250 contributes the motor ( not the carb however )

I've just sold my Jade but they're a great bike.

Let me know what information you're after and I will see if I have anything for ya.

I'm essentially looking for any info around the motor for oil changes and filter sizes.

Also if their a manual I can rely on for how to get the tacho apart or partially apart to change the bulb.

I've learnt its a MC23 engine anyway.

If you find a manual you'll be doing better than me. It was a JDM only so I doubt a english manual exists. I've got a CBR manual which helps alot with the engine.

The filter you want is a Honda: 15410-KEA-305

2.3 litres of oil required if you change the filter.

I pulled my tacho apart and changed the bulb without any instructions. It's quite straight forward.

I can email you the manual if you like.

Thanks Logpot, thats helps alot.
If you could email me that manual, that would be great!

I was figuring changing a bulb wouldnt be too much trouble at the end of the day, just want to be sure. My previous bike was a GPX 250 and there is soo much info out there for them, website and fully featured manual for download.
I'll have to start compiling what I can :)

I haven't been on KiwiBiker long enough to PM, but I have had my Jade for 8 months now and that manual would be absolutely invaluable. I even have good friends who speak Japanese, hah. Would you please still be willing to send that manual to my email? It's akira1138@hotmail.com

Would be in your debt, sir.

That manual is excellent. I adjusted my chain the weekend prior thanks to its guidance.

Will tackle my tacho again soon.

Just upgraded my battery to a motobatt and it is brilliant. Starts every time!

Hi Guys, got a Jade 250 too, had it for 3 years already, it is a very cool ride for me, even though I have a 110cc and a 400cc bike, I preferred using it. Just saw your thread and wonder if I could also have a copy of the manual and anything that I can use for the maintenance of my Jade 250, I struggled for so long looking for reference that can help me with my Jade's maintenance.

thanks
Chris

It's not a Jade guide, it's for the CBR250 but should help you with most things on your Jade. I have also included a parts list of different things I've purchased for my Jade.

You can download it here:

Jade Parts & CBR Service Manual.pdf (http://www.4shared.com/office/U926auSV/Jade_Parts__CBR_Service_Manual.html)
