Hi, I am new to riding. At the moment I am looking for gear in a size 12 - 14 for someone of 5'2. Where is the best place to buy gear and what type? I have xs gloves which still have room at the end.

I am also on the look out for a learners motorbike that will accommodate my size frame.

With regards to bikes, I'd be looking at either the Yamaha XV250 Virago or the Suzuki VL250 Intruder. Both nice and low in the seat height, very low center of gravity and comfortable riding position. Both extremely confidence inspiring learner machines.

At 5.2 and 12-14 size you are going to struggle, I would recommend getting something well made in a custom, I do it but would prefer to measure you and youre to far away so I recommend strongly you go and see Sam at Celtic leathers and get something made perfect for you.
Yes it will cost you more than of the rack BUT it will last you a lot longer also.

Rev'it do everything very very well. Anne is 5'4'' (at a pinch:innocent:) and has recently invested in Rev'it gear (top and bottom) without needing alterations.

Brought a Yamaha XV250 from Motorad which they are going to adjust the clutch and the bonus I can put both feet on the ground with know shoes on.

Pants I have been measured by one of the staff who is my height and going to get them in, brought a jacket which fits perfectly, has a liner that can be taken out. The only downside was the person who sold me my helmet, has sold a size to large, so will have to sell my helmet to get a small helmet.

There is small womens gear out there but it is not easy to find.

I am 5'2 and size 10-12. I recently purchased a Revit jacket from Motomail which fits perfectly and I am really happy with it. It was rather expensive but I dont intend to replace it for a number of years.

My bike pants I got from Cycletreads - they do "short" leg versions for us hobbits. There is one down your way I understand. They fit perfectly "length" wise but are now just a bit baggy.....:facepalm:

Yes, Madduck's jacket is really nice, looks feminine too, has the correct curves in the correct places. It is worth getting a woman's jacket that fits correctly as men's gear is hopeless for women.

You could get stuff sent from America - I have Icon stuff, and their sizes start from XS which would be an 8 or smaller to XL which I guess is about 14. (I am at the bigger end of the scale)

Feminine because Rev'it make gear also for women, not just one style fits all stuff like some stuff on the market.

I would recommend trademe if second hand is ok with you. Just check measurements before you commit as bike gear sizing has no rhyme or reason between brands.

I'm 5"2.5 (lol) I would recommend a Yamaha Scorpio as a good learner bike, particularly for a small statured person, they are light and i got mine lowered through the front forks by my friendly motorbike shop (for free). It was perfect for me anyways. Good luck :)

Listen to this woman, she is a little dot of a gal, who has more fabulous gear than any biker really needs, all of it new and obtained really cheaply. In fact one might go as far as to say she is tin aresed :yes:
