hey.
after hearing rumours of new bluetooth ipods on the horizon, i did some looking for bluetooth helmets.
imagine - your ipod, laptop, phone etc - all wirelessly networked?
anyway - take a look:

personally - i hate open face helmets.
So does this mean that they talk to your phone? Or other helmets? Or both? Be good if you could use them for phone calls, but also to communicate with your pillion, or another rider in the immediate vacinity without having to make a cell phone call . . .

I had a patent pending for a kick-arse BT helmet, which was integrated with the bike. Spend 100's of hours of R&D, just needed a company to back me. No one did. Bit gutted about that.
Since no one backed me, I can only assume that my ideas aren't original any more, and that there's great things to come soon.. A BT helmet with speaker and mic would certainly be cool..

nope - the'd talk to a phone or laptop only i'd say.
i doubt they would "pair" to another headset.
of course i can't be sure - but that's my guess..

Not what I heard. But if not, then I'm sure you could talk to another BT headset via a decent BT-equipped intercom system.

Was that before or after you invented the umbrella?

Was that before or after you invented the umbrella?
just after.. the umbrollie was the penultimate invention, but it kept blowing away on the 636, so I had to come up with something a little more durable..

I'd rather have a bit of peace away from the world when I'm riding my bike! No distractions!

While on this topic I have been meaning to ask - Me and my GF pillion are considering a bit of touring, what does everyone prefer in the way of intercoms and where can I get one? I have looked at cheap RF's with VOX but look a bit "cheap" and likely to me more trouble than they are worth.
Cheers

Don't worry, chances are they'd miss...

The bike to pillion system we have works well, and Mike Pinfold's service is excellent. If you have any problems, he'll help you sort them out.
Here's another link to look at:

Interesting idea. A standard Bluetooth headset is pretty dumb and only will only talk to something like a phone, but it should be possible to connect two headsets via a phone without making a call. If it's a Symbian or Windows Smartphone you could probably write the application yourself, if someone hasn't already done it.

Autocoms are the dogs danglies IMO. Cheap VOX radios are shite, and the wind blast will keep the microphones open driving you wild with background hiss and wizz unless you get a really good seperate microphone for your lid.
A search on intercoms and such like on here should churn up loads of advice.

Or,
"I think that was a cop"
I dont want to know that!

If you want to listen to music stay home. If you want to talk to the pilliion take the car. If you want to use the cell phone walk. If you want none of these go for a ride.

nice generalizations, if only my life were as simple as that.
some of us use our bike for more than sunday morning scratching.
i never listen to music on my bike, but would really like a way to answer my phone.
if i can be reached - i can leave the deathstar - and RIDE......
so maybe it depends who you are and how you look at it?

The point I'm trying to make is that there are enough distracted drivers on the road as it is so why would anyone want to answer their phone while riding? Plenty of posts here about cagers not aware of other road users and you want to join them??

Sort of ditto. I don't want to ANSWER the phone while riding, but I would like to know that I've had a call. (and to be able to see the number would be nice). A couple of times I've been out , finally stopped for gas, checked the phone and seen a call, and texts of the "where are you, been trying to get you for hours " type . When riding I often only stop every three hours or so, and sometimes there is a call that needs to be dealt with.
If I knew there was a call, especially if I knew who from, I could decide whether or not to stop at an appropraite place and call back.

for some reason I dont understand all the drama about phones while driving, you average cage has a passengers in the front to distract the driver and a couple of screaming shit factories in the back wailing " are we there yet ". So how is talking in to your helmet after you phone automatically answers itself an extra distraction!? Slow down to the speed limit and you should have plently of processing ability to handle talking and riding, I know alot of people sing in there helemts........

When you have to make and evasive manoeuvre because of someone talking on a cellphone while driveing you may 'realy see' the point I am making. Yes I do have a cell phone and it stays unused while I am driving. If it's important they can ring back or text.

Not too sure about you but when I am riding I use all my processing ability to avoid the unexpected. Just hope that you will too one day; preferably before the unexected happens and you need to use all of your processing ability to avoid an accident.

Dude - i live in Auckland, I've had to "make and evasive manoeuvre because of someone talking on a cellphone while driveing" plenty of times.
So i guess i can "'realy see'" your point.
Your claim on the moral high ground is amusing (but not as funny as your spelling).
could i recommend a spell check to increase your holier than thou approach?

I am a grate fan of George Bernard Shaw. He was an advokate of phonetic spelleen.' I do on okasions laps into his mode.
But I always get my syntax correct. manoeuvre as you put it is singular when it should have been manoeuvres (plural) "plenty of times.'
I have never claimed the moral high ground on anything.
Skyryder.
PS
I as a personal pronoun is a capitol not i as you wrote.

I can't stand these bastards who must drive and have there hand glued to there ear, especially these 4WD cages. I've had too many close calls with these inconsiderate bastards - you might as well drive blind :oi-grr:
For those of you who must, at all times have these things with you - put it on vibrate and stick it down ya pants :mobile: or get a tank bag and place it face up :slap: and look down periodically.
Mine rings all day, its the last fuckin thing I wanna hear when I'm wanting peace and quiet.
Time to

"Manoeuvre" (and the rest in quotation marks in my post) was copied and pasted from your post.
Shaw? come on, that's a weak explanation for your spelling crimes.
