Lying bastard .. on annual leave and "covertly" following a vehicle of interest .. The prick was probably speeding because he was late for golf!!!

....he paid the fine...so what? we all speed from time to eh?
Some even have the energy to take it to court first to either, drag it out or to try and get off the infringment....sound like a familiar scenario?..:corn:

Certainly given me food for thought next time I'm accused of speeding. A "vehicle of interest" indeed.
Probably get done for taking the piss out of an officer again though:shutup:

He was fined $120 and lost 20 demerit points but appealed on the grounds that he was on police business and covertly following a car of interest.

This was despite the fact he was on annual leave at the time and was driving an unmarked police car, accompanied by a woman passenger.

An external investigator was hired at a cost of more than $8000 before Mr Cox decided to pay the fine and accept the loss of demerit points

what a wanker

How did he get an "external investigator"? & How do I get one?

so they expect us to pay out tickets without complaint, but they themselves think its acceptable to run up a tax payer fundedbill of 8k to fight a hundee buck ticket? what a fucktard. this dude isnt doing anything to improve the public face of the police, on that alone, the prick should get sacked.

Too long on the pigs back IMHO. No slight against the boys in blue, I could have said gravy train but that would not be as punny.

I'm afraid this gentleman made a bad error of judgement. As a senior police officer he has to be whiter than white, held to higher standards than Joe Citizen.

Knowing a TV reporter was on the spot he should have sucked it up and immediately paid the fine. Tough luck if he was following another vehicle - he is required to notify dispatch which he didn't.

Ok, he's entitled to defend the charge like anyone else - except he isn't anyone else.

Furthermore it appears that the investigation isn't finished so he might have been excused. I suspect he was worried about how it would look once TV1 reported so he decided to bite the bullet. Four months late. Poor judgement indeed.

Yes. How many times have we said here - Just pay the fine - and here's a cop doing something wrong - he should "just pay the fine" like everyone else ...

If he'd paid the fine there would probably be no publicity and no criticism here ... sure off duty cops get caught speeding more than we know about .. Cops are human .. they stuff up like this ... just admit it and take the rap .. it's not like it's a crime that's going to cost him his job ...

The expectations of people that Police behaviour should be high is just a game for the perennial disgruntled.

They just use it as leverage to be outraged when cops do the wrong thing. Then feign the "oh we expected so much better than that" righteous path.

They pretend to be soooo shocked and angry when clearly they never had those high expectations in the first place.

KB 101 stuff.
