are subframes on dirt bikes good enough to hold a pillion without risk of collapse and falling between the rear tyre? Wouldn't like that to happen.
The DRZ has pillion pegs and is very comfortable for taking a passenger on but still not sure if it will hold? What about KTM's and CRF450s etc? I know you can get pillion pegs for them at dirt bike stores but who know's if the frame will take it? Anyone done it?

If they come with footrests then they must be fit for purpose.
A number of poo tube videos of X games riders show them quite happily riding round with pillions on their mx bikes.
Unless your racing (with an insane pillion) or the person your thinking of sticking on the back is a lard bucket you should be fine.

It would suck to have a pillion fall down onto the wheel! ....but i'll take your word for it :p

It would certainly suck for the pillion but if I were you I would probably wet myself laughing. Sick, I know.
I used to ride a Stan stephens tuned DT 400 with no rear guard or frame rail & a huge sand tire on the back. Fooking terrifying on steep hills & pulling big wheelies with a rubber buzz saw between you legs.
Seriously though, if the bike was designed to carry a pillion, has footrests or footrest mounts then the manufacturer would not leave themselves open to liability. Imagine all the Merckans litigating for their girlfriends crotch injuries from collapsing sub frames.:shit:
