I'm looking for something to get my two wheeling fix on, get me to work if need be, and for now be cheap to buy and run.

I'm thinking of returning to 250 roots for low cost and maintenance so I'm thinking GN250 vs. Scorpio. GNs are a bit cheaper but by all accounts the Yammy has a bit more power. It doesn't need to impress me, just do it's job.

The wildcards are the random options, a nice old school Honda GB4 or 500, a scooter (probably Jog) or road legal dirt bike so I could head out to Woodhill on the weekends. Honda has some nice classic style that I really like and relatively low cost, but maintenance might be a worry and rego costs would be higher. Jog would obviously be the cheapest option all round, however I'm little worried that going from a real bike to a scooter might take the fun out of it. Dirt bike has it's appeal, but with these I'm worried I'll be re-building the damn thing every month.

well my little GB400 cost me $12.73 last fortnight for gas, about 15km round trip to work and back daily

Plus it brings out the hoon in me

Go with the GB 4or500, they arent overpowerful, but are very usable for a weekend blat too.... The GB's will be better in commuting traffic with the extra grunt for merging and manourering.

GB400s struggle to overtake on the open road but have plenty of grunt round town, sweet handling if you put konis on the back and uprate the fork springs. Maintenance - change the 2 litres of oil every 2,000ks and do the camchain every 40,000. Other than that they're great cheap bikes.

Well, I miss my Scorpio, it was a great bike around town, chuckable for what it was not to mention reliable and cheap to run.

Yamaha Scorpio!

Very cheap to run (fuel wise), maintain (can be done by yourself), looks good, feels like a bike, runs like a bike, IS a bike, Has good power for a bike that size (225), very forgiving.

Haha, what a comedian. 20yr old Duke to commute on hehehe.

Dirt bike is a great idea, but keep it only for dirt, road kills the tires.

GNs are 'orrible things with their poxy long soft forks, sit up & beg bars. Why they didn't make a std version instead of the ghey one:no:
