Hey,
Thought I'd share my dyno chart of my 2008 KTM 690e running the Leo Vince SBK Evo II muffler. A lot of people beleive that we need to go with the Akra map, and if not you'll kill the bike because of it running lean...well, that doesn't seem to be the case.
Here is the output that I ran today...and it was cold 10C, 1001mb, 55% humidity. I was also running my 17" motard wheel of more grip and probably got more power because of the smoother tyre. The Leo Vince had the standard dB modifier which reduces the end cap diameter and has no spark screen so the fuel probe could get all the way in.
As listed in the title, STANDARD MAP on standard setting. Am happy with power and fueling
60.8HP at the wheel is bloody good and 12.0 was the richest it hit...nothing lean about that.
Also at idling the fuel air was bang on.

I was under the impression that 13.0 was the ideal mark?

Sweet. Thanks for posting the dyno report
Any idea how it compares to the original exhaust?
And how does the 690e go as a motard?
I miss my 640sm and want to fill the void with a 690 soon.

The Akra map does more than just fuel it also changes the throttle response in lower gears as well as other things.

Hi all,
With the muffler installed, I still get the intermittent stalling at idle/take off. the other thing is that I notice the bike it running a bit hotter now, and twice on my commute to work, the engine temp guage has hit maximim.
I suspect that it is lean (at the bottom), so I whipped out the spark plug and sure enough it was too white for my liking. So if we combine the few factors....I'm now going to install the akra map.
DMC - yes, I beleive the akra changes a few things, and the big one for me will be to see of it does disable the 2nd and 3rd gear power restriction....I was going to do the mod on the gear sensor wires, but have been told the map does that anyway.
the bike goes in tomorrow.

There are a few threads that mention that under load, and while the engine is accelerating...it has to be a bit richer to compensate for the increasing rev's
Also factor in that the dyno machine has to work within tolerances so who know exactly how accurate it is :-)

The sound is completely different, and it actiually sounds like a big single again. Fortunately its not too loud, but it sure is louder than original. At times, I like the stealth mode of the original as it could sneak along quickly but its harder now with this muffler. Best of all though, was getting rid of the high temp risk of that unit....and the few extra kilos it had.
As for motard...the bikes are quick for sure. I think if you really wanted to get excited about a motard, I'd probably like to have a 450 for its lighterweight, and manageabbility but thats thinking about it on a track....road stuff is excellent.
The 17" wheels on the enduro change the bike too much for me (fussy bastard). The handling is completely different, the kick stand is too high (no adjustability, no after market)...so I'm going to either swap for 21/18 with someone or, take off the 17's and build another 21/18 set. Just so you know, the 690e is one inch shorter than the 690r so I think motard the R would be better to alternate between motard and enduro.
I spend more time going for offroad than on road, so I'd benefit better from bigger rims

Yes it does make a difference, I can't remember if the guys said it removed it completely or still restricted it a little but I originally did the mod and map with exhaust, I have since changed exhausts and when we did that we reconnected the wires and reset and remapped and I can't say I can notice the difference with the wires connected so the map must disable it. With a leo vince pipe, k&n and akro map its runs great now as I did have stalling issues with the FMF and it use to run very hot. Still runs a little hotter round town than I'd like but will try a better coolant and if that doesn't help will get the race thermo switch so the fan kicks in earlier.

I can recommend adding 'Redline Water Wetter' to the coolant water, I've done this to all my KTM's with good and noticeable results. BNT stocks it.

Yeh the boys have suggested it, no rush as its being sleeping over at the dealers for the last few months, will sort it when I get it back.

Your comments match mine as well, intermittent stalling, running a bit hot. I have the ktm foam filter instead of the k&n, but think they are the same really.
The map is in. first impression is that is feels better, it's like the missing bits have been added...bottom end is cleaner, and I did feel it pull a little sooner...nothing startling, and I think there will be people who may not notice. the other thing I noticed is that while it's not radically different, my speed seems to running a it higher, and I'm getting there easier...so that's a good sign
I've been practicing some wheelies lately, and simply full throttle in second with a tug on the bars...so I did a few on the way home to see the difference...and perhaps it felt better but it certainly didn't buck me off. More testing tomorrow and
In will take the spark plug out to see the change in th weekend.
Fnally, I.ve ordered the thermo switch as well. 88C on, instead of 102C

Yeah... I've heard the same...I'll get some before summer kicks in. Why your bike at the dealers, not broken I hope

WOW...remapped, AND opened the airbox...what a rocket now!
following on...I got the remap done this week, and while it feels better alround, more repsonsive and idles better...I hadn't actually taken it for a proper fang...which I just did this morning. Before I went over the rimutakas, I opened up the airbox (it had been extensively drilled before which I had taped up, but now have removed it so it can breathe better
OMG...what a fricken weapon, the bike was fast before, but now its bloody quick..from 6000 - 8000 (yes it rev's higher now) it pulls like a school boy, its like its got a new cam. Combine that with the 2nd and 3rd power restriction gone, it made the sprint from corner to corner far more agressive.
Honestly, I'd recommend anyone with the 690 to do this upgrade...just pay for an hours labour to get the and your bike will be the weapon it can be. Considering how easy it is to make it really before, and the bikes are so good...why not complete the package
holy shit...I'm still amazed:shit:
( I really think I am going to reverse my brain and sort out those motard settings for the bike, I really want to ride this with road rubber and see what it can do...)
...I'm still amazed!!!

It does live'n things up a little, I found it pulled out of corners alot better as it seemed to get into the power a little earlier in the rev range which made all the difference.
Some soft sticky tyres on your 17's will make it faster than anything you can possibly do to it tho.

Do you have the KTM part code for the switch, I had it somewhere but can find it anywhere?

I'm sure the part I am getting is an aftermarket unit from KTMTwins...check it here
http://www.ktmtwins.com/ktm-950-990-690-rc8-thermostat-switch
they will ship it internationally

Yeh I saw they had them but the freight is more than the switch
I had the part number for the KTM one but can't find it and the guys haven't been able to find it either. I hear that the 318 BMW has the same switch so may just try local for one of those.

I'm off to San Fran in two weeks, and am going to the shop to ahve a looksy at other cool things there such as KILM badlands pro jacket......and also pick up the part, if they have a couple...I'll grab them and then we can work out how to get it to you..I'm sure my freight charges won't be tooo expensive

Will keep that in mind, found a part number for the 80-85 switch that KTM have but have to check its the right one to fit the Duke.

Think I have found the right model switch, Tridon make a TFS225 that kicks in at 95c which should be the right one, not as low as 88c but still quite a bit lower then factory, alot of the Suzuki guys are using them on their bikes from what I can see and it also is the same unit in some Suzuki Swift's and other models. Will shoot into BNT and see if they have one or similar.
Get my bike back next week so will be able to try one out, KTM Twins are back ordered till December now so could speed things up and may be quite a bit cheaper.
update, so it looks like that part is obsolete damn it, found some other options I'm chasing up but think I can get one local to fit.
