attention SV650S owners and anyone else

Has anyone with the carby model SV650S tried changing the front tyre from a 120/60/17 to a 120/70/17 and if so what were the results? does it even fit under the mudguard?
i rode my mates R6 with the differnt sizes and it made a huge difference.

Just change it and stop being a blouse. Who cares what anyone else thinks or has done. Fact is, you can't get good, sticky rubber in a 120/60 in NZ anyway.

A 120/70 Pirelli is 118 mm OA width, 70 mm high from rim to apex of tyre.
Compare that to your 120/60. If you've got clearance go for it.

Nah, real bikes have the speedo drive from the countershaft sprocket. Specificaly so ya can see how fast you're goin' when you're doin' a mono or a burnout.

It may make the speedo read more accurate as I read that the speedo's always show a greater speed than your actually doing and the error is significant.

Are Michelin Pilot powers any good? These come in 60 profile and are meant to be very sticky.

on my mates R6 it turned way better and seemed more stable on its side. it was way more fun to ride as well. i told him never to change back. not really looking for anymore grip just really wanted to know if the difference would be significant like the R6 and if it would fit under the guard.

yes, they fit under guard. plenty of room.

running metzeler rennsport 120/70 on race bike. Bridgestone BT020 120/60 on road bike. I prefer the 120/70. Much sharper turning, makes the road bike feel sluggish afterward.

metzeler (or pirelli) are sticky enough for me on the track, so should have no worries on the road (apart from leaning over in the wet). Michellin pilot powers are supposed to be even better, but they are more expensive and I haven't tried them.
