Steering damper?

anyone had much luck in fitting a steering damper to a yzf450 i dont want one on the bars thinking of set up behind number board

wer dampers are average but cheaper than everything else, gpr are better but a bit more money, but once you have ridden with an ohlins damper you will not like the other ones, they are pricey but they are the best with out question,

Scott's are made by ohlins and are just as good, but the new low profile ohlins ones are awesome

I've been using a scotts damper for the last 5 years and wouldn't ride a bike without one.

These things rock and though I'm sure the new Ohlins are just as good, maybe better, I have had a couple riding mates having a few problems with them.
Up to you really and price maybe? I know several of the dampers availible don't have the high speed dampening that the scotts and ohlins do

ok i was thinking about using a road race one i have lying around and mounting it to the bike but might look into these options well ohlins I will go CKT I like Robert to much to buy from overseas and run a good man outta buisiness

You may re-think that,rang CKT and priced an Ohlins 2.1 Steering Damper today,$1300.......$699 US on Ebay......

yeah there may be a price differnce but I know with CKT if I have any faults Robert will help solve them were as overseas im screwed plus like I say Roberts a good guy and I have known him well and hes helped me and my brother out heaps over the past 5 years so if i get a Ohlins damper I will contact him, I was more asking on here tho has anyone had any luck mounting a damper for a bike its not designed for it cant be to hard

more use than on a road bike really...it helps to soften out deflections from roots, rocks and every other bump. You don't have to hold on to the bars as tight so can ride longer using less energy. Mine has saved me from crashes many many times. I will always have them on my bikes.

Looking at getting another one Kelly but man they're pricy,sold that one to you,and just to rub it in my mate just bought my old 450 off the guy i swapped with for the KTM,it's still got the Ohlins Damper on it too the, mongrel,haha.So that's 2 i've had and want another one but as previously stated $1300,little rich for my blood.......Dammit,haha......they hardly ever show up second hand either

You can build a clamp mount around the steering stem on the frame, attach the body of the damper, and then just run the damper across to the forks on a standard road race fork clamp. I run my SXV this way and it works primo. May need a little fiddling to clear the number board but pretty easy.

Only issue i have is when you throw it at solid objects nose first.

I really regret not having one especially at Kuratau at TT champs hitting 4th gear tapped and a rut sends the front tank slapping i w2ant it to make the bike feel more stable at speed otherwise I shit myself and dont push fast,

I was thinking off doing it that way Lostinfly and yeah most things dont hold up to well when you throw them at things tho hahaha
