I see Mike has confirmed the date as Feb 25 and 26, 2012 for the next TT2000.
www.TT2000.org
Looks like there will be a few changes for this year with a plan your own route factor built in.
And there is the promise of more gnarly dirt for those riders who wanted more of the Dorothy falls/Gillespie beach/Waipapa point type rides from last year.
I am in and have booked my leave....who else?

I just checked the website... www.tt2000.org ....and see that Mike has updated it with a description of the "two rallys in one concept".... looking good.
Flyer details to come, but the SI map with flyer locations looks daunting...I think it would be safe to say that all flyers will not be possible this year even with the additional 8 hrs

Looking forward to this, i have registered already..
May change bikes depending on what the flyers look like.

I guess we'll have to wait for the flyer points to come out. So far it looks like anywhere in the South Island will do.

The choice of either to run the basic 2000km, route or plan your own to aim for any of the 4 levels adds the fun of planning to the the rally....there are near infinite route options to achieve whatever goal you want to achieve...I cant wait to see the individual flyer values....diamond is my aim again this year...

I too like the new concept of the Flyer Route. Mike has done alot of work I hope its a success. Planning your own route is part of the fun. Then go out and ride your plan. It's going to be more of an individual rally as we all head off to all parts of the island.

Will have too mark this down......As we are doing 8 days in the South island at the end of November and most of those roads we will be doing so will make it a scouting trip :shifty:

New plan ..... may go for a bronze trophy this year to add to my gold and diamond. sounds easy does it???
I may be changing bikes this time, i will leave the busa in the shed and bring out the big guns.......
i will dust off the "turtle" a 40 year old 49cc honda c50 stepthrough.
I think that will add to the challenge a little, who is with me??? ..................????
no one???
Oh well, go the turtle..

I'll wait until the list of required photos is published, then start planning. I believe I can get there and return to Bluff in less than 3 hours, and that is more than 1500 points per hour, so could be worth doing. More research is needed.

I've been on that ferry before... first and last time I've been seasick so I wouldn't even consider using the boat for sleeping...
Going round the South Island does hold a nice ring to it... but again, gotta wait until this weekend to see the specifics... Friday start is pretty much a given...

We would lose too much riding time, on the step-throughs we will need every minute of the 48 hours to complete the 2000kM, so this one for us is not about getting points, but do aim to score a bronze.

I agree launching from Auckland adds another dimension to the trip, i will be throwing the steppie in the back of the car and starting from ChCh.
Even riding the Busa back to Blenheim after the TT was hard work, kudos to those that had to travel from the north.
Bring it on.....

Airfare? I'm only PPL so I can't charge airfare. But I will need to shout a mate a couple of bottles of wine to position the Cessna from Alex to invers at the right time.

Hi everyone, Whatastoner here. After much study of the flyer map, a route around the southern half of the island is the best option. Although reaching diamond may require a trip overseas. It all depends on what time of day one gets down to Slope Point, Invercargill area. Do the helicopters fly in the evening? I doubt it. And at $260 one way. So back to the map my friends.

I think this year Johan and i will be running our own race, got a gold, got a diamond.
Bronze is the plan this year. There will be no target on us that any of you guys will see (being on our back and all), within 5 hours you guys will have 300+ kM on us and a couple of thousand points under your belt.
But hey "the turtle" slow and steady?????
Somehow i think last years diamond wont work out any harder than this years effort. (real men ride steppies)

Now that the points have been published I think it'll be both the bonuses and see what else I can fit in. Maybe silver, maybe gold, possibly diamond. :scooter:

Peter, easy one is to take it for a test ride. If you can't manage a 45kph average... well.... A 40kph average would take 50 hours... you don't have 50 hours either.

Also note, it's on the website, but some may not have thought about it. If you start at 6pm Friday, then you must finish at 6pm Sunday, as there is a maximum window of 48 hours.
