View Full Version : Adventure riders going to the Cold Kiwi?

Has all this snow made everyone excited about going camping? :sunny:

Who is coming to the Cold Kiwi this year? Who is keen to explore some gravel while we are there?

The current Rosie-and-Clint plan goes something like this:
On Friday we'll assess the weather, and either highway it down in the afternoon, or take the whole day off and do a bit of gravel on the way. Could be keen to meet up with other upper North Island folk, especially if it's a nice day, and we end up doing some exploring.

We'll be going for a ride somewhere on the Saturday, but not sure where yet - Whangaehu and Turakina valleys make a good loop, but then again, the Whanganui River Rd is never going to have as much gravel as it has now, and could be a nice cruise if the weather is good (and could be a good excuse for brunch at the Black Pepper Cafe). But we are always open to other suggestions

I'll be there. Most of the group I was with last year aren't going, though Jake is. I could be up for a ride saturday as I'll be the only adventure bike in our group.

Did it once in the 90's and once in the 00's due to go again this decade but still got 8 years so not this year.

Snow/fine (like last year) I am happy with. It's the rain I don't look forward to on a testoterone ridden Green Monster. Too much wheelspin mid corners.:shit:

There is always the big marquee to get drunk in if it pours all weekend.

Shoulda kept the chook chaser :oi-grr:

Metservice always over-forecasts rain, and this morning Metvuw is forecasting even less rain for Friday night than they were forecasting yesterday.

Even Metservice's weather forcast has improved a bit now. Saturday is now forecast as possible showers or snow overnight but fine by dawn.
