The time has come...
....For a new electric shaver.
My current shaver has been alright but I have had to use it twice a day and if I didn't shave for a couple of days it had no show in hell of doing its job. Its about 2 years old and the cutting blades are fucked. It doesn't so much as shave as it does rip the hair out of my face. Quite a painful way to start the day.
Anyone have any recommendations?
My requirements are its powerful enough to cut man hair, and that its not $500.
Looks, weight, run time, mean nothing to me.
Anyone know if foil shavers work better then rotating blades?

Just stop shaving, it's the shit.
Haven't touched a razor in about two years now.. Found my old razor knocking around one day, had a good chuckle at it..

Exactly! It's no fashion statement from me... I just can't be buggered shaving.
Bought a cheap set of clippers.. an #2 over the face every 10 or so days even keeps it looking tidy enough.

This.
Never understood electrics myself.
Takes all but 2 minutes to have a proper shave, including lathering

Takes me about 10 minutes, My hair is like steel wool and fucks hand held razors in seconds, the ones it doesn't fuck are clogged to the point of not being usable in one pass.
That and I get a mean rash under my chin that hurts like hell, Now, no expert needs to tell me I'm doing it wrong, That's just what happens, no matter what technique, preparation or after care is applied.
Going electric is the best shit ever for me when it comes to shaving.
Apart from when I grow a beard.

Pretty sure that's what they said it was, bit stingy and sometimes needs a few hits with it for big ones

I thought that was just for warts!
Always thought moles had the ability to become cancerous if they felt like it.
EDIT: Slightly well off family I used to know when I was a little-un, he got given $50 per wart he let them treat.
Bastard bought a brand new PS2 when they came out with the money...

The latest recommendation is to not get moles removed, as whats left behind can still turn cancerous but with no external indicators you just end up fucked.
That aside, Just had a big ugly pus filled revolting lump removed out of my back, it fucked up a tatt that cost me many many hundreds of dollars, and the wound hurts like fuckery.
The doc tells me it left behind a large hole that will fill up with blood and probably turn infectious, so watch out for that....
Yee-fucking-ha.
The pain is pissing me the fuck off.

I've only used a Braun foil before but I've heard foils are easier on your face than a rotary.
Edit: just having a nosey around and it looks like panasonic wet and dry shavers are getting reasonable reviews.....

Braun.
Foil shaver. Dunno how much it cost but it has been going strong for ... fuck... ummm... I think, 14 years!
It replaced a prior Braun that had also done a good 15 years or so.
The chap at the Shaver Shop on Pitt St said they are the shizz. Just feed it a foil and a cutter block every once in a while and all good to go.

I've used PayerLux, Braun, Remington, Braun. Braun it is. :niceone:
Of course, my beard is much more wussy than yours, by the sounds of it. And I second the Shaver Shop (but I use the one in Takapuna).

Go visit a skin cancer clinic. A biopsy of the mole will soon sort out if there is any problem. Don't leave it! Trust me!!

If you have a real man's beard then forget those rotating blade types. I returned a Phillips after a couple of shaves as Not fit for purpose. Took forever to shave. Then I got a Braun. My old plug into the wall Remington had finally died & they didn't make that model anymore. Figured maybe there was something better. The braun was okish but lacked the grunt of my Remington.
Finally i got a new Remington RS4400 microscreen as they were on special at Briscoes some years back, but they keep coming up. Much betterer. I went back & bought two more for the cupboard, as they were on 50% off. I replace the foils & blades every 6 months & shaver lasts about 4 years.
Forget rechargables.

Philips 3 head rotary mains powered cost $75 at farmers about four years ago.
Getting a bit blunt, so went to LV Martin tp get some new heads - $75!
Got a three head rotary Remington portable from Briscoes instead, about $50, a charge last about a week and a bit, used every (week) day

If it worked ok for two years,,just buy a new set of blades mate.
I replace the blades on my own rotary about every two years,,,they cost sod all at the warehouse.
