Hey guys...I want to buy a NEW road legal motard and having a few problems working out whats out there.
It seems Aprilia have dropped the SXV 4.5 and 5.5 and I cant get a KTM SMC690 either. BMW dont do the G650 motard varients anymore either...Cant even get a WR450 with a motard kit for under $15k.
So as far as I know that leaves the Husqvarna SMC630 or KTM EXC450 both for around $14k. Im leaning towards the Husky due to less maintenance....but I cant believe there are only 2 options!
Am I missing any others out? Maybe I should import a KTM SMR now with the high dollar...

I've had my 2008 530 for about a month and i'll never buy another fully faired road bike againhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/57931034@N03/6068455007/

So it has to be new?
There is a 690SMC on TardMe with 3000K on the clock.
The 630 would be a sick ride though. Not sure about the maintenance and reliability compared to the LC4.

You cant get a SMR road legal, they are not made with the lights etc as far as I know
You would be looking at an SM
try a 690 SM, boyds have got two nice ones (one was mine the other a mates which is more grunty)

Cheers guys - I only wanted a new bike as im in a position where I can financially afford one! Probably the only time in my life I can...
So it looks like the KTM 450 for around 15k with motard kit....530 for 15.5k....or the Husqvarna SM630 for around 13...I cant believe there are no other manufacturers still making them!

Why did they discontinue the DRZ400 motard? I also think it's a crying shame that there aren't any others making them.
I say get the KTM 450. More orange bikes on the road can only be a good thing.

Out of those three go for the Husky. The other two aren't really designed for the rigors of the road. Just my opinion. Hey if it's just for a quick commute and some back road weekend riding then they should be all good.
Make sure you keep us updated.

there is still 4-5 new aprillia's in chch with MCDU
they dont bring in a ADR WR450 any more ( hence why i updated mine to BMW G450 and motarded it )
you need to look out side the box and make one not just buy one,
there is TM 's Vors ,Huskies , husabooms, ktm ,bmw , gas gas and all the common jap stuff , just check it has a ( i think 17 digit vin number) and you can road reg it,
the pic is a husabom for sale in alk , and the other is my g450x

You've forgotten the APrilia 750 dorsoduro and 1200. I've had pretty much every motard under the sun and the 750 dorso is the shit! little bit heavier than husky with a lot more power and torque. and the sound! :Punk:

Not exactly a motard but very close to it, why not a 690 Duke?

Don't know how you can count those as motards? They are hypermotards and not to be confused with the dirt bike derived 'motard'. Completely different characteristics and advantages/disadvantages; No crashability, no dirt/enduro capability, not a thumper.
I'm also interested to know what every motard under the sun means? CRF450, KTM 300exc or RM included in those?

I like the look of this Husqvarna Nuda 900R, something different, its not what you call a motard. but:niceone:

well when i say every motard, i've had a few :P
Drz400sm, then a ktm 525sx converted for the road, husky 610sm and now the dorso 750. Agreed it's not has nimble etc as 'real' motards but handles almost as good with more power and I guess the point I was trying to make was that if you're into motards and are spending husky 630 type money I'd definately ride a dd 750 for comparison. Only reason I didn't snap up the husky 630 from spectrum was it was too close to the husky I had already owned and I wanted a bit more power.
