Im currently looking for my first bike and ive seen a 92 250 bandit that im crazy about. Problem is my dad (whos a bikey too) thinks its too old and will be unreliable or expensive to get parts for.
I thought the best thing to do would be to come here and ask you opinions. the 92 bandit has 45,000km on and has recently had alot of maintenance done including new tires
new wheel bearings
new brake pads
new axel bolts
new front fork seals
new o-ring chain
new rear sproket
new iridium spark plugs
new air filter
new oil and oil filter
both rims powder coated and lips polished
also has after market tuned exhaust headers and carbon exhaust tip.

it was previously a weekend bike and has never been dropped as far as i know.

For a started bike (i have previous off road experiance) is this a good, reliable and cost effective bike to buy?
Ive looked as the newer gsx250 invaders but from what ive found out, they can be a bit gutless and i dont want a gz250 or intruder as those are not suitable for long rides at highway speeds.
Please, your feed back would be much apreciated

Looks alright - those items are standard maintenance for a bike of that age...

Get your Dad to test ride it..
Check for :

head bearings (lift the front wheel on the side stand)
swing arm bearings
check all the items replaced
smoke when cold and warm
listen for cam and caamchain noise
check brakes (by riding it)
check engine response and power (should still be sweet if looked after)
